Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Tenure-Track Position in Speech-Language Pathology
Qualifications
We seek a candidate with a Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field, preferably eligible for New York State and CCC-SLP certification. The ideal candidate will have expertise and research in culturally responsive practice and critical approaches to speech-language pathology. We are particularly interested in scholars who integrate social justice perspectives and the impact of social determinants of healthcare into their teaching, research, and clinical practice. The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to diverse, non-traditional, and part-time student populations and be prepared to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Experience working with students from underrepresented backgrounds and a dedication to advancing equitable access to the field of speechlanguage pathology are essential. Expertise in bilingual/multicultural academic content and clinical practice is preferred, though other areas of specialization will be considered. Candidates with knowledge in speech science, voice disorders, swallowing disorders, motor speech disorders, aphasia, research, language and literacy, or audiology in the context of speech therapy services are encouraged to apply.
Description of Position
The selected candidate will:
Teach courses within their area(s) of expertise, ensuring instruction is delivered through a culturally and historically responsive lens.
Conduct research that advances social justice in healthcare, explores culturally responsive practice, and supports equity in speech-language pathology.
Mentor graduate students, fostering their research engagement and professional growth.
Collaborate with faculty to infuse principles of cultural and linguistic diversity and non-biased professional practice throughout the curriculum.
Provide service to the department, college, university, and broader community, contributing to the program's mission of access, inclusion, and excellence in education and clinical training. This position presents a unique opportunity to reshape the discipline by supporting our diverse student body and advancing culturally responsive education and research.
