Job Description
The Intercontinental Market Access Director, Oncology, is a key member of the Intercontinental Market Access Leadership Team. This role will report to the Vice President Intercontinental Market Access and be responsible for leading the Intercontinental Market Access Oncology team. This person will serve as a strategic partner to relevant global, Intercontinental and affiliate stakeholders leading to enhanced reimbursement and access of our late stage and in-line Oncology portfolio. They will lead their team to provide meaningful, strategic guidance and support to affiliates across Intercontinental countries and regions (Canada, Australia, Japan, China, Puerto Rico, LATAM, MEAR and ASIA) to ensure the localization and execution of high impact strategies that optimize and accelerate pricing, reimbursement, and access. This person will lead their team in connecting global partners and resources with business opportunities for market access in the Intercontinental Area.
Responsibilities Include:
The person will need to work independently to lead the localization and optimization of Integrated Access Strategies and strategic pricing approaches for AbbVie's product portfolio across Intercontinental markets. They will collaborate cross functionally with Area and Affiliate teams to ensure annual and long-range business plans unlock the potential of our Oncology portfolio through expanded access to deliver sustainable growth. The Intercontinental Market Access Director will be responsible for optimization of Therapeutic Area Integrated Access Strategies for Intercontinental affiliates, including identifying evidence and reimbursement policy requirements to accelerate access to our innovative portfolio for patients. This person will work closely with their commercial, external affairs, medical, and regulatory counterparts to deliver innovative integrated market access strategies and operational plans.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Lead a focused team of experienced market access professionals that span Intercontinental geographies
- Oncology Therapeutic Area lead for the Intercontinental area providing market access strategic and operational insights and expertise to optimize product launches, life cycle planning, as well as, portfolio and geographic expansion
- Facilitate input into the development and localization of Global Integrated Market Access Strategies to optimize Oncology portfolio access and value
- Provide critical access and reimbursement support and strategic guidance to priority affiliates for identification of key access opportunities and challenges to enable Oncology asset growth
- Work closely with critical internal functions (Global/Area/Affiliate Commercial, HEOR, EA, Legal, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs), to co-create, advise, align and refine Integrated Access Strategies to optimize pricing, reimbursement and access, including representing the Intercontinental viewpoint within Oncology Value and Access Teams.
- Support affiliate in developing appropriate access strategies, including HTA submissions, and value messaging and models for alternative access pathways
- Support affiliates to drive strategic thinking and trade-offs to confirm scenario analyses to determine launch and indication sequencing
- Ensure affiliates are equipped with global resources, insights, evidence, and communication tools to support their engagement
- Build affiliate capabilities to effectively develop Integrated Access Strategies to address key priorities and challenges
- Lead/support the implementation of market access initiatives related to affiliate's prioritized ambitions identified in financial cycles
- Champion best practices and learnings across markets to inspire innovative solutions; and encourage effective ways of working to ensure high impact.
- Lead, develop and coach direct reports. Align team performance to business goals and KPIs to maximize business opportunities.
- Build the organization and inspire people by demonstrating model behavior through the AbbVie ways of working.
Qualifications
Required:
- Extensive consultancy experience from global consultancy firms providing strategic advisory support in healthcare, with a strong emphasis on market access strategy.
- Proven ability to harness analytical skills in crafting effective market access strategies within the healthcare field, incorporating clinical and health-economic insights for successful outcomes.
- BA/BS in pharmacy, economics, life sciences or comparable equivalent experience
- Strong cross-functional leadership, influencing, critical thinking, and analytical skills to work with a variety of groups in ensuring that the strategic direction for market access and pricing is in balance with the market as well as corporate goals.
- Proven track record to successfully interact with all levels of Matrix organizations
- Ability to navigate a complex matrix environment and to be able to influence without authority.
- Willing to work across a range of products, in pipeline, near market and on market in a variety of therapeutic areas, as needs dictate.
- Ability to work under conditions of uncertainty in an evolving environment
- Proven track record of successful leadership, management and coaching of teams and individuals, and in having developed talent and performance managed low performers (if applicable). Sensitive to cultural and market differences as they will interact and travel to multiple countries in their role.
- Communicate effectively both in written and verbal format to engage and inspire others.
Preferred:
- MBA, MS, Pharm D, or other advanced degree preferred.
- Understanding of regulatory agency requirements / policies that govern reimbursement and the impact on reimbursement decisions
- Knowledge of pricing regulations, pricing governance in key global markets, standard operating procedures, and the business of healthcare in key markets
