Summary:
The primary responsibilities for the Treasury Specialist position include but are not limited to:
- Conducting detailed financial analysis and modeling to evaluate and allocate financial resources.
- Preparing debt issuance documents, including financing plans, applicable board resolutions, and official statements.
- Validating principal and interest payment requests to ensure timely and accurate payment on university debt.
- Analyzing and compiling university cash receipts and disbursements to develop cash forecasts to ensure adequate funds for operating needs.
- Maintaining compliance and contributing to the management of the university's cash and investments by tracking and reporting relevant data.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration or equivalent experience
- Basic knowledge of financial principles and operations.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to develop financial models, interpret financial data, and draw sound conclusions.
- Proficiency in using analytical tools and techniques and applying them effectively to financial analysis.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with shared responsibilities.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects, manage deadlines, and work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels within and outside the university.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree.
- Multiple years of progressive experience in higher education or a similar industry, with a focus on debt, investments, and customer service.
- Knowledge of public finance concepts, including financing instruments, derivative products, and credit enhancement instruments.
