Position Summary:

Reporting to the Underwriting Governance Leader, the Corporate Underwriting Auditor is responsible for evaluating and ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and quality of underwriting processes and decisions. This role involves conducting audits, analyzing underwriting practices, and providing recommendations to improve efficiency and mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive audits of property and casualty insurance underwriting files to ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards, for both internal underwriting units and external underwriting partners.
  • Review and assess underwriting decisions, documentation, and processes for accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Identify areas of improvement and provide actionable recommendations to enhance underwriting practices and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with underwriting teams to address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to senior management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in underwriting and auditing.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to underwriting staff on compliance and best practices.
  • Support Underwriting Governance Leader and U.S. Chief Underwriting Officer
  • Participate in strategic projects and underwriting initiatives, as needed.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) or AU (Associate in Commercial Underwriting) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in property and casualty insurance underwriting or auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently and good time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using auditing software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation

Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual cash bonus, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.
  • The annualized base pay range for this role is: In New York Metro is: $115,000 - $140,000
