Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Sales Engineer / Account Manager to lead sales and business development activities within our Southwest Territory, including Phoenix, Arizona, Texas areas. This high-visibility territory includes several of Hutchinson's largest and most strategic defense customers, including Raytheon, Honeywell, and Barber-Nichols.
This individual will be responsible for expanding market share, strengthening key relationships, and driving profitable growth by developing and executing both short- and long-term sales strategies. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, operations, and leadership to deliver exceptional service and innovative solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a Safety-First Culture by identifying risks and adhering to company safety and integrity standards.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with strategic customers across the territory.
  • Serve as the Voice of the Customer within Hutchinson to ensure internal alignment.
  • Collaborate with Market Managers and leadership to develop and implement pricing and negotiation strategies.
  • Conduct and lead market research to identify growth opportunities and drive new business.
  • Analyze competitive landscape and support positioning of Hutchinson's solutions to maximize market impact.
  • Partner with internal teams to align customer requirements with technical, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Act as project manager to move customer projects from concept through execution.
  • Provide timely, accurate reporting on key metrics, including order/sales growth, customer engagement, and on-time delivery.
  • Lead coordination for customer RFQs and contract reviews, ensuring profitability and compliance.
  • Organize and support customer visits, plant tours, and product development initiatives.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field; or 3-5+ years of technical sales experience, ideally within defense markets.
  • Working knowledge of ISO/TS/AS9100 and defense compliance standards (e.g., ITAR, CMMC).
  • Proven sales experience in engineered solutions for OEM and defense/industrial markets.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex customer requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Self-starter with strong organization, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently while also being a strong team player.
  • High energy, persistent, and able to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to travel 50% within the territory and to company offices/facilities as required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required (ITAR & NOFORN compliance)
