Position Summary
The Executive Director works under the general direction of Regional Services, the AHEC Program Office and Advisory Council to provide leadership on rural health issues through education, communication, advocacy, and research. Develops and administers statewide programs that improve access to health care services, improve quality of health services and improve the health status of residents of rural Utah.
Essential Functions
- Plans, implements, coordinates, and evaluates programs that address health care workforce development including needs assessment, health careers awareness activities and health professions training and recruitment and retention programs.
- Provides leadership and program administration for projects in collaboration with offices such as the State Office of Rural Health, Utah Hospital Association and Utah Department of Health.
- Provides program administration and staff support for the Southern Utah AHEC and promotes network development.
- Develops community-campus partnerships to link academic resources with community needs.
- Pursues grants and contracts, assures compliance, and completes appropriate reports.
- Develops and manages center budgets and grants. Maintains budgets and exercises control over all transactions affecting it. Manages all financial transactions and develops monthly reports.
- Assures compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Collects and disseminates information to rural health organizations and providers and provides technical assistance.
- Other duties as needed for center administration.
Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Higher Ed., Business Administration, Public Administration, Communication, Health Administration, or related area.
- Requires proficiency in personal computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, data base, Internet, presentations, and desktop publishing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or familiarity with health care systems, educational systems, and non-profit organization management.
- Four years related work experience.
- Grant seeking, grant writing and grant management experience.
