Pay Range: $73,686.34 to $110,529.64

Actual pay will be based on various factors, such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, proficiency for the role, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, Kwik Trip gives 40% of pre-tax profits back to our coworkers with bonuses ranging from 8-12% of each coworker's gross annual wage depending on company profitability and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401k, paid time off, and more.

Kwik Trip's Network Services Department is seeking a Database Administrator

What you'll be doing...

As a Database Administrator, you will work independently and, on a team, to administer Kwik Trip's database environment (primarily Microsoft SQL). Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Work to continually maintain and improve Kwik Trip's SQL estate. Respond to database-related incidents and problems.
  • Provide input and work closely with IT teams, business analysts and external vendors, to develop and maintain Kwik Trip's database system strategies.
  • Assist in creating, maintaining, and communicating a Database Administration roadmap.
  • Monitor OS and database platform lifecycle management to ensure Kwik Trip is keeping up with advancements in technology.
  • Participate in business and vendor relationship management efforts and events.
  • Work closely with the Availability and Recovery team to develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery procedures for database systems.
  • Work closely with the Security Team to ensure data privacy and security standards are maintained.


You'll need to have:
  • Associate degree in Information Systems/Network Administration or equivalent combination of education and relevant Microsoft SQL database administration
  • Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server, with a focus on the setup, maintenance, management, and migration of servers.
  • Knowledge of current Microsoft Azure database products.
  • Ability to tune and optimize Database performance with the use of index management and statistics.
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, demonstrating excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and self-prioritize work.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


Even Better if you have:
  • Familiarity with PowerShell, SQL reporting services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS).
  • Ability to provide basic support for other database platforms (e.g., MySQL, Cosmos DB, Postgres, etc.).
  • Fundamental knowledge in SQL encryption technologies.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Service Now and Scrum methodologies to help with defining, planning, and prioritization of work.
  • Ability to improve SQL estate through automation.
  • Experience with Redgate Tools.


Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime hours. Weekend and after-hours work may be required as needed. Provide after-hours support for critical production systems in an on-call rotation. This position is open to hybrid work from home 50% of the time.
