Summary
As an EKG Tech, you will be instrumental in monitoring patients' cardiac health through advanced diagnostic evaluations and telemetry. Reporting to the cardiology department, your core skills in cardiac catheterization, medical terminology, and vital signs will ensure accurate assessments and timely interventions. Your expertise in anatomy and physiology will enhance patient care, particularly in high-stakes environments like Level I and II Trauma Centers. Responsibilities
Monitor patients' cardiac activity through EKG readings and telemetry systems.
Assist in cardiac catheterization procedures and interventional cardiology tasks.
Maintain knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support diagnostic evaluations.
Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques during procedures.
Record and report vital signs accurately to healthcare teams.
Collaborate with emergency medicine staff in trauma situations, particularly in Level I and II Trauma Centers.
Qualifications
Proficient in cardiac catheterization and telemetry monitoring
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology
Experience in patient monitoring and diagnostic evaluation
Familiarity with aseptic techniques and vital signs assessment
Background in interventional cardiology and interventional radiology preferred
Experience in Level I and Level II Trauma Centers and emergency medicine is a plus

Hospital # of beds: 185 Beds
Overview of services: Dignity Health's Mercy Medical Center is a general acute care hospital serving the health care needs of the greater Merced Community. Our vision is to help the people of our community become physically, emotionally, and spiritually healthy. Mercy also operates 3 rural health clinics - Family Care, Kids Care, and General Medicine.
Trauma Level: No - they have a Level II NICU that is affiliated with Valley Children's Hospital
Teaching Facility: They have a Family Medicine Residency Program
Testing required: Area specific competency exam is required.
IV pumps: Alaris
Cardiac Monitors: GE
Med dispensing system: Omnicell
EMR: Cerner
General Orientation: "General orientation is usually a week long.
Training on TEAM (timekeeping system) is done during orientation.
My journey modules are due prior to coming on site for assignment.(They take 8-10 hours to complete on average)"
Parking: Free for staff--there is a specific parking lot they will be assigned to.
Cafeteria: Open during the day and very limited at night (11p-2a)
Dress code: "Hair must be natural color, no gel or acrylic nails, no visible tattoos, no facial piercing and no dangle earrings.
No Hoodies/Sweatshirts or Sweat Jackets."
Special Notes: "Only floating within the facility is required. Travelers are first to float and will float to an areas within their skillset.
Very strict on absences"
Area Specific Information: Merced, CA. is known as the Gateway to Yosemite. It is only about an hour from there. Also only about 110 miles to Sacramento, 130 miles to San Francisco, 45 miles from Fresno, 270 miles from LA, and 85 miles from Monterey Bay. Overall, it is a very diverse area perfect for several weekend getaways in the area.
