Position Overview
The primary purpose of the Office Supervisor is to oversee a diverse range of administrative tasks related to the daily operation of the Wauwatosa Police Department. This role involves supervising the day-to-day administrative, customer service, records-related, and operational duties, as well as the coordination and execution of projects of varying scopes and scales. The Office Supervisor oversees 6-8 clerical full-time and part-time team members.
The starting pay for this position ranges from $78,146 - $99,840 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This is complemented by an excellent benefits package, a robust wellness program, an on-site fitness center, a free workplace clinic, paid parental leave, generous paid holidays and vacation, a pension plan, volunteer time off, a flexible workplace environment (this position has the option to work remotely one day per week) and the opportunity to work with dedicated professionals who have a passion for public service. - Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, trains, reviews, and evaluates the work of the records management and administrative staff. Oversees time management, performance, and training of the office employees. Staff is made up of 6-8 clerical full-time and part-time employees.
- Develops and implements goals, policies, priorities, and procedures for team.
- Oversees employee engagement of office team members and ensures compliance and commitment to the department's mission vision, and values, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Provides oversight to the team members fulfilling customer service requests through a variety of methods.
- Provides oversight to the team members fulfilling public record requests and ensures compliance, assisting when needed.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records related to personnel, training, certification, and incidents.
- Assists with fulfilling public record requests related to lawsuits, personnel inquiries, and departmental emails.
- Creates and maintains policies and operating procedures which are administrative in nature.
- Continuously looks to optimize processes and create efficiencies within the administrative workflows at the police department.
- Aids with Systems Administrator responsibilities related to ProPhoenix, Kronos - Telestaff & Workforce Ready.
- Creates and maintains standardized, digital, fillable forms for department use. Provides training to internal customers on how to use the forms and research other needed forms.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field preferred, Associate's Degree required.
- Two to three years of administrative operations experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience complementary to the role.
- Experience with WI public records laws and the request process.
- Office or personnel management experience preferred.
