Future Growth:
A $300 million renovation will transform the current 48,000 square foot emergency department to a state-of-the-art facility spanning 178,800 square feet, making it one of the largest in the nation. The reimagined emergency room will be a role model facility in quality, efficiency, and experience. Key enhancements to improve the patient experience include more than 200 patient rooms, a fast-track triage to reduce wait times, 50 observation rooms, six resuscitation rooms, and enhanced privacy for loved ones to be near patient care areas with family lounges and waiting areas.
The renovated emergency room will stand as one of the largest emergency rooms in the nation. The pediatric area, within the facility, will have 30 rooms, a child-friendly environment, and a dedicated lobby and registration area. The new facility is slated to be completed in 2025 and the existing emergency room's transformation will be completed in 2026.
Position Summary:
The Emergency Services Director will lead the strategic and operational functions of the Emergency Services Division at Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH). The Director assumes responsibility for the planning, priority setting, coordination, management and evaluation of emergency care for patients and staff education for the Jackson Health System (JHS). This role will oversee the delivery of emergency care with a focus on safety, quality and cost efficiency, ensuring alignment with hospital policies and regulatory standards. The Director provides the organization with a positive example of cooperative leadership by maintaining an enthusiastic and progressive relationship with patient care services, directors and vice presidents, as appropriate.

Role will work closely alongside Chief Emergency Medical Director
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides the leadership framework for planning, directing, coordinating and improving nursing services for the Emergency Services Division that are responsive to the needs of the Jackson Health System (JHS).
Develops and executes business plans for market growth, service line expansion, and increased community access of Emergency Services Division.
Directs strategic initiatives to achieve key performance and quality goals across Emergency Services.
Collaborates with physicians, clinical leaders, and administrative teams to optimize service delivery, coordinate departmental efforts and develop new service offerings.
Assume 24-hour responsibilities for nursing practice and unit operations. Serving as a clinical resource to nursing staff in the application of standards of care, policies and procedures and the nursing process.
Role will oversee and manage Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center (RTC) and Poison Control.
Plans, develops and implements programs to ensure that all patients are provided with appropriate care and drives improvements in patient throughput through volume forecasting and patient flow coordination.
Monitors and analyzes services that are presently being provided and need to be provided in the best interest of the JHS and the community.
Ensures that all areas of responsibility reach or exceed the standard required by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals and State of Florida License requirements and maintains a state of continual readiness of regulatory visits.
Develops and monitors departmental operating budgets, which include personnel, contractual services, supplies and capital equipment.
Recruits, motivates, evaluates and maintains an effective staff to carry out assigned responsibility.
Provides for the training, education and development for the advancement goals of staff members.
Role models behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
The leader understands and adheres to JHS compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct, Compliance Policies, and all other JHS Policies and Procedures and supports the commitment of JHS in adhering to federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing ethical business practices for health care providers by demonstrating knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family and organization information.
The leader further understands that JHS is committed to its role in preventing health care fraud and abuse and complying with applicable state and federal laws related to health care fraud and abuse. This commitment is supported and enabled through an anonymous hotline which serves as one of several mechanisms for reporting suspected fraud, waste and/or abuse, as well as other compliance related issues. Required Qualifications:
Experience:
Generally requires 7 to 10 years of related experience. Emergency management experience is required.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Master's degree is preferred. At least one degree must be in Nursing.
Credentials:
Valid Florida RN license is required.
Advanced Nursing Administration certification is preferred.
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification is preferred.
Leaders performing direct patient care are required to have a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
