THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Senior Estimator to join our team with a strong background in manufacturing and construction processes. Reporting to the Director of Pre-Construction, the successful candidate will play a critical role in developing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and supporting bid strategies. This individual will work closely with project managers, engineering, and purchasing teams to ensure that all project scopes are fully understood and accounted for, contributing to competitive and profitable proposals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prepare detailed and accurate project estimates based on drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
- Analyze proposals, drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Collaborate with internal teams-including engineering, project management, and purchasing-to ensure all scopes are fully understood and accounted for in estimates.
- Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and maintain up-to-date cost databases.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options to improve bid competitiveness.
- Support the preparation of tender and proposal documents, including detailed breakdowns and narrative justifications.
- Participate in project hand-off meetings to ensure continuity and clarity between estimating and operations teams.
- Maintain awareness of current market trends and pricing in materials, labor, and subcontracted work.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating process.
EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- University Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- 7+ years of estimating experience within a manufacturing, construction, or glazing environment.
- Strong knowledge of estimation tools, materials take-offs, and bid strategies.
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems and procurement practices is a strong asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel skills are essential.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify risks and opportunities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external vendors.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
