The Position
CallRail is looking for a Director of Engineering. The role is responsible for leading and growing teams in our Engineering Foundations department. This currently includes two teams spanning platform engineering, site reliability engineering, developer enablement, and telephony. These teams build tooling and processes to provide a reliable scalable development platform for product development teams at CallRail.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing and growing managers, and working alongside and/or through managers and principal engineers to build teams responsible for developing high-traffic and high-availability software applications, design and maintain development environments that engineers love to use, and engineer continuous delivery pipelines to scale teams to safely deploy more than twenty times per day.
This role is based in our downtown Atlanta Headquarters and requires presence in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What You'll Do
- Bring the needs of Product Engineering to the domain
- Proactively identify new product dependencies to plan infrastructure needs
- Clearly articulate when projects are not currently able to be prioritized
- Identify projects that serve multiple strategic goals and influence prioritize accordingly
- Know and track long term goals in the department
- Continually track process to improve our alignment with AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Communicate the strategy out to leadership and be able to relate them to company goals
- Manage vendors and spend on cloud platforms such as AWS and Datadog
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define service level objectives, determine how to measure them, determine if we are meeting them, and report them to other CallRail leaders
- Continually balance needs for security and regulatory compliance with new feature development
- Work with Lead Architect to continuously improve CallRail telephony integrations
- Manage the managers that report up through this division and help plan organizational growth for the future
- Collaborate with Engineering Senior Leaders to plan and advocate for team and organizational capacity, clarifying needs, requisitioning positions, and managing the hiring process to fill those positions

- Experience working with a Communications Platform as a Service, like Twilio or Bandwidth
- Integrating AI into development workflows to improve engineers' satisfaction
- Past use of objective metrics and developer surveys to find process and tooling improvements
What You'll Need
- Experience managing multiple engineering teams and managers, including infrastructure and product development teams
- Experience evolving developer enablement programs and/or release engineering to continuously improve delivery capabilities
- A balance of building consensus with strategic problem solving
- Building a roadmap that is rooted in business value and iterating with small improvements to generate long term value
- Experience working in an agile environment with a focus on continuous deployment
- Success managing infrastructure costs while maintaining high availability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communication for executive or customer consumption
