Responsibilities
This position provides strategic direction and leadership for underwriting in our main street business, encompassing BOP, micro-BOP, workers compensation and business auto. Proactively participates with the senior management team and functional department staffs in developing and executing strategic and operational plans to meet business objectives.
May perform other functions as assigned

Responsibilities
This position provides strategic direction and leadership for underwriting in our main street business, encompassing BOP, micro-BOP, workers compensation and business auto. Proactively participates with the senior management team and functional department staffs in developing and executing strategic and operational plans to meet business objectives.
- Participate as a member of the executive leadership team in the development of strategy and objectives, including critical decisions affecting risk, profitability and growth.
- Responsible for the development, execution and monitoring of underwriting plans, guidelines, policies and procedures to achieve growth, retention and profitability goals.
- Understands the nuances, dynamics, and necessities of flow business and portfolio underwriting.
- Experience in BOP / WC mandatory.
- Develop and delegate underwriting authority as appropriate, and monitor the quality, effectiveness, and appropriateness of the use of that authority.
- Provide effective leadership for the underwriting and underwriting services teams, including developing and instituting appropriate training.
- Participate in the Company's budgeting process and responsible for the underwriting budget, and the development of alternative insurance products, policies and endorsements.
- Monitor and analyze underwriting results, working with actuarial and claims to maximize Company profitability and change underwriting direction as appropriate.
- Assist in designing and executing the Company's marketing plan, as well as analyzing agency performance and assisting in appointment and termination decisions.
- Work with the distribution to market casualty insurance products and target and cultivate relationships with current and new production sources.
- Assist in the assessment and implementation of initiatives to improve efficiency and profitability.
May perform other functions as assigned
Qualifications
- 10+ years of underwriting experience.
- 5+ years of management experience.
- Experience in BOP / WC mandatory.
- Possess a working knowledge of all functional aspects of insurance company and third-party administrator (i.e. claims, underwriting, marketing, loss control, etc.)

- Bachelor's Degree
