Under general supervision, provides technical support and guidance for Reclamation/Closure projects and programs. Assist with evaluations, developing and deploying emerged or emerging technologies to effectively understand and evaluate Mine Reclamation and Closure projects. Efforts are focused on technologies relating to cover/capping systems, soil/plant science and earthwork construction.

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $82,000-$113,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. Description
Under general supervision, provides technical support and guidance for Reclamation/Closure projects and programs. Assist with evaluations, developing and deploying emerged or emerging technologies to effectively understand and evaluate Mine Reclamation and Closure projects. Efforts are focused on technologies relating to cover/capping systems, soil/plant science and earthwork construction.
- Installs, operates, and maintains environmental and vadose zone monitoring, instruments and equipment; analyzes data for quality and accuracy
- Evaluates and assesses Reclamation maintenance risks and develops programs for risk reduction
- Reviews and/or prepares and maintains detailed records and files of environmental data and communications
- May participate in reclamation design reviews and serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sized Reclamation projects
- Collaborates in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations
- Leads or participates in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with Corporate Reclamation policies, procedures and requirements
- Maintains basic working knowledge of national, regional and local Reclamation and other applicable regulations
- Maintains knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures
- May provide leadership to less experienced Engineers, Scientists and Technicians
- Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
- Designs and conducts bench and field scale experiments and assessments; assists with data analysis and interpretation to prepare result reports
- Tracks and reports Reclamation projects across the Company's portfolio
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and three (3) years of Reclamation or related experience; OR
- Master's degree in Engineering in a related field and one (1) year of Reclamation or related experience
- Basic understanding in Reclamation soil chemistry, soil microbiology, soil physics, watershed management, hydraulics and hydrology
- Proficient at identifying terrestrial plants
- Experience with ArcGIS platform
- Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred (US examples include: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM)
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in mine closure and reclamation, including planning, permitting, execution, and post-closure monitoring.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS with the ability to analyze spatial data and generate high-quality maps and report.
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD, including drafting, design, and interpretation of engineering drawings related to reclamation and closure activities.
- Proven ability to proactively identify and resolve technical and regulatory challenges in closure and reclamation projects.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, land use planning, and stakeholder engagement related to mine site closure.
- Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time or as business requires.
