THE POSITION
The Department of Transportation is currently on the lookout for a highly skilled individual to take on the role of Highway Equipment Manager 2. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire highway equipment program for PennDOT's Wayne County Maintenance Organization. Your duties will include managing the maintenance, repair, and dispatch of a diverse fleet of heavy construction and automotive equipment. Additionally, you will be in charge of supervising the equipment repair facilities and the dedicated personnel. Furthermore, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep of the building, grounds, stockpiles, and facilities used for equipment storage and maintenance. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will be responsible for creating, organizing, and overseeing a preventative maintenance program for specific equipment and facilities within a county maintenance organization. Your tasks will include evaluating the work of mechanics and garage personnel to ensure high standards of quality and efficiency, inspecting equipment to determine repair or replacement needs, and negotiating with dealers for repair costs and parts discounts to maintain warranty inspections. You will also assign equipment to qualified operators, manage their training and certification, and oversee equipment inventory and usage. Additionally, it is crucial to keep track of tool inventory, approve purchases for shop tools, and prepare or supervise the preparation of reports on time, progress, and equipment for submission to supervisors. Ensuring maintenance of buildings and grounds are being completed as assigned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Honesdale.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Highway Equipment Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including two years of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
