The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the clinical practice of nursing which includes directing all services provided by the Nursing Services Department. As a member of senior management this position ensures the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, programs and services consistent with the facility's goals and objectives, and actively participates in a leadership role by consulting with facility management in designing and providing total patient care and services.
  • Direct the provision of 24-hour nursing services for the facility.
  • Develop, implement and revise corporate, facility and Nursing Services policies and procedures within the guidelines of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the facility and
  • taking into consideration the recommendations of the CEO, the Medical Director, the Director of Social Services and the nursing staff.
  • Review the progress, quality and effectiveness of all nursing programs.
  • Establish methods for evaluating nursing care practices, formulate plans for new programs and changes to existing programs, and initiate and/or utilize studies and research applicable to the development of nursing services.
  • Consult with the CEO on the development of long and short-term facility projects, goals and objectives of Nursing Services.
  • Establish nursing committees as needed for quality and patient care needs.
  • Strategically solve problems that encompass the larger view of the organization, and establish goals by utilizing an understanding of organizational dynamics in planning and problem solving.
  • Participate in developing, justifying and controlling the annual budget for department personnel, facilities and equipment.
  • Consult with facility management in the development and facilitation of program activities which assure an optimal therapeutic experience for all patients.
  • Ensure all Nursing Services programs maintain current departmental manuals.
  • Direct a system that ensures that individual patients and their families are involved in the development of individualized treatment plans.
  • Maintain an active involvement and awareness of all patient admissions, discharges and transfers.
  • Meet regularly with Program Managers, the Medical Director and program staff to ensure compliance with program goals and objectives.
  • Serve on facility committees and attend meetings as assigned.
  • Act as a behavior model in transmitting clinical and procedural expertise to other nursing staff.


Your Experience Matters What we're looking for:

  • Education & Licensure:Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing; Master's Degree in psychiatric nursing or related field required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Illinois
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years' experience in nursing administration and/or dedicated leadership experience in psychiatric nursing.
  • Additional Skill Requirements: A thorough knowledge of The Joint Commission, Medicare, OSHA regulations, and all other state and federal regulatory standards.

Compensation:
