About You:

VT-ARC seeks a mid-career, strategic-minded Lead Operations Analyst with a robust background in intelligence, operational and strategic analysis, and tackling defense and national security challenges. Responsibilities will include exploring and solving sponsor problem sets and developing multidisciplinary analytic approaches, frameworks, and models to address those challenges. Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide Operational Analysis expertise for technical and analytic programs pertaining to sponsor challenges, including:
    • Acquisition process optimization,
    • Mission Engineering and operations analysis,
    • Supply chain analysis, and
    • Peer/near pear threat analysis and framework development.
  • Lead efforts to understand and analyze operational challenges of the sponsor, to include:
    • Identifying key issues, requirements, and areas for innovation and advancement through the application of data science and software engineering.
  • Collaborate with Data Science, Software Engineering, and Systems Engineering team members to apply qualitative and quantitative techniques in the design, development, and operationalization of innovative analytic approaches, frameworks, models and technical solutions to address sponsor challenges and decision-making processes.
  • Lead workshops, brainstorming sessions, and strategy meetings to gather input and align objectives.
  • Develop and deliver presentations surrounding complex content to technical and non-technical audiences, including defense community senior leaders.
  • Develop and deliver complex content in technical reports and peer-reviewed journal articles for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate across internal DSD, VT-ARC, and VT university teams, as well as sponsor and partner teams to accomplish project and technical objectives.

Required Education, Certification, Skills, Capabilities:
  • 5 or more years of experience in or supporting the defense, national security, or intelligence communities serving roles surrounding qualitative and quantitative data analysis, operational analysis/operations research, or strategic analysis.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Intelligence Studies, Data Analysis, Data Analytics and Visualization, Operations Research, Security Studies, Political Science, or related disciplines.
  • An interest in Systems Engineering and/or propensity to apply systems thinking to complex defense challenges.
  • An interest in Project Management and technical leadership.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work effectively with sponsors, team members, and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong critical thinking, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong technical skills, including advanced knowledge of state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Background analyzing complex problems and delivering both strategic and actionable insights.
  • Desire to work collaboratively on cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive innovative solutions.
  • Experience conducting open-source research and threat analysis.
  • Strong understanding of defense and/or intelligence acquisition and operational challenges.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering and/or Mission Engineering analysis.
  • Experience in support of Department of Defense and/or Intelligence operations.
  • Interest in growing data analytics and data visualization expertise.
  • Interest in growing Project Management and Systems/Mission Engineering expertise.
  • Completion of advanced career training programs, such as the Career Analyst Program or equivalent.

Primary Work Location:
  • Work is to be performed in Arlington, VA or remotely with onsite support in Arlington as needed.

Special Work Conditions:
  • Periodic travel to Blacksburg, VA
  • Possible travel to other CONUS or OCONUS locations
  • Occasional travel may be required; up to 15%
  • Occasional work outside of corporate core business hours

Security:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active Secret clearance is desired but not required
  • Must be able to obtain & hold a TS/SCI clearance

Salary:
  • $165,000-$185,000/yr.
