The Role: Director of Facilities and Asset Management (Full-time)

The Director of Facilities and Asset Management is responsible for the strategic oversight of Trellis' physical assets, facilities, Health and Safety, and Information Technology. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, functionality and sustainability of the spaces, systems and tools that support our teams and communities every day.

Leading a team that includes Facilities, Occupational Health and Safety, and IT, the Director is responsible for both preventative and responsive operations that contribute to the organization's overall effectiveness. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and works collaboratively across departments to align infrastructure planning with strategic goals.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of physical assets, including procurement, maintenance, insurance, and disposal.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations, maintenance and safety of all organizational facilities, assets and the vehicle fleet.
  • Lead facility-related projects from planning through to completion, delivering on time, on budget and to required specifications.
  • Lead vendor and service provider relationships, including negotiating contracts and ensuring service quality and value.
  • Develop and monitor the facilities and asset management budget, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and perform monthly variance analysis.
  • Oversee the organization's occupational health and safety program, ensuring a proactive and compliant approach. Ensure facility operations and asset management meet all relevant health, safety and regulatory standards.
  • Supervise in-house IT staff and coordinate with third-party IT service providers to ensure seamless systems support.

Knowledge and Skills Expectations
  • Preferably a bachelor's degree in facilities management, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent significant education and experience.
  • Proven experience in facilities and asset management, within the non-profit sector is an asset.
  • Strong skills in project management, budgeting, and vendor management.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Intervention Record Check required.
  • Some knowledge of IT best practices.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
