This role will lead the Contract Logistics Procurement Pillar within the Regional Procurement organization reporting to the Vice President of Procurement. The role will be responsible for 8+ direct reports and a spend of over $200M across the US, Mexico and Canada. Contract Logistics is a fast-paced environment where our customers demand speed, low cost, and high flexibility. Your job as the Director of Procurement for the Contract Logistics is to deliver a procurement organization and supply base that can respond to the demands of the business and our customers while appropriately managing the risks.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Lead the organization's procurement function to minimize the organization's overall purchasing costs without compromising quality or reliability of supply
  • Contribute to the development of the organization's overall supply and logistics strategy and establish purchasing budgets, plans, and procedures that will achieve these strategic objectives
  • Lead the Bid and Launch of new Warehouse locations from a Procurement perspective, ensuring we manage risks to cost and timeline, ensuring delivery on time and on budget
  • Manage direct reports by providing daily feedback, guidance, and positive coaching while assessing strengths and weaknesses of the team and consequently training needs to enhance and build a cohesive team
  • Identify, evaluate, and capitalize on opportunities to reduce purchasing costs by improving the organization's buying patterns and supply channels; Meets annual targets for cost reduction
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and manage the most complex or strategically important supplier and vendor relationships to secure terms that are in the organization's best interests
  • Liaise with executive management to anticipate future demand for materials or subcontracted labor; Consolidate demand in order to leverage economies of scale and improve purchasing capability and pricing strategies for the organization
  • Oversee the development and implementation of corporate policies, checklists, and other materials that describe the organization's technical, quality, service, or reliability standards to help evaluate supplier proposals and ensure consistency in materials and / or subcontracted labor
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of managers and other professionals to ensure that purchasing activities meet established targets and standards
  • Assume responsibility for all Purchasing SAP/Oracle activity within the region, ensuring that processes and policies are followed, and using system KPIs to improve performance where relevant
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Economics, Engineering required
  • Masters Degree preferred but not required
  • 10+ years experience in a centralized procurement environment with 5+ years of experience leading procurement teams in multinational or global organizations
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within a logistics organization preferably contract logistics
  • Spanish language skills are very beneficial but not mandatory
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Role is based in Charlotte, NC or Detroit Metro area
