Finance Director - Valley Metro

Description:
Role purpose: The Finance Director will report to the West Region Finance team and will serve as a key business partner (and dotted line) to the Valley Metro GM and leadership team to report on current financial status, analyze operational and financial performance, forecast future financial performance, and provide ad-hoc analysis when requested.
The Finance Director will develop and maintain accounting and financial processes, and best practices. The Finance Director will liaise with Payroll, HR, and Operations to drive month-end close, ensure all costs are coded in the right dimensions and implement the performance dialogue with the operations.
In addition, the Finance Director will conduct the monthly financial reporting and will provide a comprehensive analysis of the monthly business performance to the Valley Metro GM, the Region Finance team, and the client when necessary. The Finance Director will also be accountable for Valley Metro monthly rolling forecast and the annual budgeting process for the Valley Metro operations.
Knowledge and Experience:
5-10 years of proven finance experience
Experience managing a full P&L
Experience managing and mentoring a team
Transit related finance experience preferred
Ability to meet critical deadlines and achieve organizational objectives
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, Master's degree preferred
Accounting or Finance (CPA, CFA) designation preferred
Strong work experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Access
Proficiency with ERPs and Reporting Tools; Microsoft Dynamics/Anaplan a plus
High level of analytic, quantitative, and financial modeling skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work across different departments
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills a must
Ability to manage employees while multi-tasking large projects
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
Key Accountabilities:
Finance business partner to the Valley Metro leadership team and General Manager
Accountable for the financial management of Valley Metro (AR, AP, Fixed Assets, Inventory supervision)
Provide timely and accurate reporting and forecast, with insights from financial trends and operational KPIs/performance
Drive and oversee month-end close process in partnership with the Controlling/Accounting Team- ensure all costs are coded in the right dimensions.
Implement and drive performance dialogue with Operations team (GM, Valley Metro leadership team, Driver supervision, Maintenance)
Recruit, develop, manage and coach assigned employees. Delegate work assignments considering employee skills and development needs
Collaborate with Controlling/Accounting Team for requests from external auditors and consultants
Respond to ad-hoc financial analysis, special projects and similar duties
Ensure compliance and delegation of authority is applied and respected throughout the Valley Metro organization.
Implement, drive and monitor internal controls processes for finance systems.
Document financial processes, initiate process improvement and action plans to ensure key financial and contractual targets are being met.
