SCOR has created a new Facultative Reinsurance team to further our success in this market. Whilst Facultative underwriting is not new to us, our focused approach will help secure our position as a market leader. Creating this book of business, in collaboration with the wider Insurance and Reinsurance teams, is where this role begins.

Within this role, you are responsible for SCORs Facultative Reinsurance offering, across North America, developing relationships with clients, managing a team of underwriters across various classes and collaborating with stakeholders across the Group.

As Head of Cedent Facultative Underwriting North America, you will drive the strategic engagement for our business development, including business origination and maintenance of the SCOR Cedent Facultative offering to clients and brokers, in the region.

You are responsible for the achievement of the Plan, and for the profitability of the Cedent Facultative transactions, driving the success of the underwriting team within the region. Your plan contribution forms part of the global Cedent Facultative ambition and is achieved through sound technical and profitable underwriting.

These goals are achieved through your skill at developing SCOR's market share and leadership position across Cedent Facultative Reinsurance, through enhancing the Group image in the market by efficient and innovative support of client needs, being the partner, our clients not only need, but ask for.

Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Client Engagement - Lead the regional facultative ceding strategy across all lines of business through the origination of placements in line with capacity and risk appetite.

Team Collaboration - Create strong, collaborative relationships with internal Reinsurance & Insurance leaders to drive the creation of profitable business, and ensuring SCOR is represented in an aligned manner to our clients.

Market Negotiation - Negotiate terms, pricing and conditions with global reinsurers and brokers to secure and provide the best possible facultative reinsurance solutions, managing and prioritizing facultative submissions.

Portfolio Optimization - Manage and renew an existing portfolio of facultative deals currently in place, assessing placements against our risk profile to identify exposures.

Accumulations Management - Monitor accumulation risk and ensure facultative solutions align with aggregate and catastrophe management strategies.

Analytics Discovery - Collaborate with analytics and risk modelling teams to determine retrocession needs based on exposure and loss scenarios.

Leadership - Manage the regional team, ensuring optimized allocation of the workload, and support the career paths, encouraging personal development and appropriated trainings when required.

Client Management - Maintain relationships with clients and brokers, showcasing our position in the market, and additional value provided through our expertise.

Operational Excellence - Contribute to the deal maintenance, including reporting, reserving and claims settlements in conjunction with the relevant department.

Compliance - Ensure facultative placements meeting internal governance, compliance and regulatory requirements, firmly within our Internal Control Systems process and Guidelines within the region.

New Market Ideation - Stay informed on global reinsurance market developments, pricing shifts, and capacity changes, using this market intelligence to optimize facultative products, timing and structure.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Competencies
  • Substantial industry experience in facultative underwriting in an international environment.
  • Experience in more than one class of business is advantageous.
  • A proven leader, able to develop their team to optimize performance and career opportunities.
  • Market leading technical knowledge of subjects associated to facultative underwriting as well as a wider understanding of related actuary, accounting, legal, & regulatory topics.
