Overview

Maimonides Medical Center is the largest hospital in Brooklyn, NY and the borough's leading independent health care system. We are currently seeking a Senior Radiation Oncology Physicist who holds a MS Degree and/or a PHD Degree in Radiation Therapy Physics or a closely related field.

Full Time, Monday-Friday

Responsibilities

  • Technical Guidance and Treatment Planning: Provide comprehensive technical direction to physicists and medical practitioners, developing and evaluating dosimetric components of patient treatment plans while utilizing advanced imaging procedures for simulation and treatment planning.
  • Radiation Safety and Compliance: Ensure equipment compliance with regulatory and accreditation agency rules, evaluate radiation dose safety, assess radiation shielding, and develop comprehensive quality management and safety programs to protect patients, staff, and the general public.
  • Equipment Management and Quality Assurance: Conduct equipment calibration, characterization, acceptance testing, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of radiation-producing and monitoring equipment, including accelerators, scanners, and associated computer systems.
  • Consultation and Training: Provide consultation to physicians on physics-related treatment planning and radiation protection, offer training to medical practitioners on radiation oncology physics and dosimetry, and review radiation oncology treatment implementation in patient records.
  • Advanced Technical Evaluation: Develop specifications for radiation therapy equipment, evaluate technical procedures prior to clinical use, measure and characterize medical radiation from therapy and simulation equipment, and assist in developing informatics specifications for radiation oncology processes.

Qualifications

We require:
  • Master's Degree and/or a Doctoral Degree in Radiation Therapy Physics or a closely related field such as physics, biophysics or health physics acceptable to the Director of Radiation.
  • Completion of one year of full-time training in a therapeutic physics and an additional year of full-time work experience under the supervision of a radiation therapy physicist at a medical institution.

Pay Range

USD $195,039.00 - USD $243,799.00 /Yr.
