Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, Learning Strategy supports the design, development and implementation of learning and employee experience programs for leaders across the Disney Experiences segment.

This role blends strategic planning, adult learning principles, project execution, and strong communication skills. The role routinely partners with multiple organizations and individuals around the world and across the Disney Enterprise to deliver learning products and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides hands-on leadership for a team of Learning & Development professionals supporting development experiences
  • Cultivates a connected culture with a global mindset, inclusive of diverse business needs, and approaches
  • Fosters relationships with HR business partners, talent management teams and business leaders to develop holistic, integrated learning solutions and plans that address development needs
  • Possesses a highly collaborative approach and ability to manage constantly changing priorities in a matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop, drive, and prioritize work aligned to learning and business strategy in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ensures learning programs address articulated needs, identifies consideration sets and outlines specific measurements of success
  • Works with the executive team on cross-business initiatives and navigating impacts to teams and processes
  • Maintains active knowledge of course offerings, can champion these topics, and regularly monitors efficacy of solutions
  • Actively develops team of program managers and content curators through training, coaching, and mentorship

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of Learning or related experience, as well as learning strategy consulting and/or development (ideally with a global company)
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience with both direct and indirect reporting relationships
  • Proficient understanding of adult learning theory and practices
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills including management of geographically distributed teams
  • Ability to lead learning processes ensuring approach, materials and practices meet business objectives
  • Understands learning measurement and KPIs
  • Proven ability to initiate, organize, prioritize, receive and provide clear direction, and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
  • Exhibits strong executive communication and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity and agility
  • Demonstrated business acumen, industry and organizational knowledge
  • Lead partner management, including collaboration, objectives development, expectation setting, and communicate resolutions
  • Commitment to working in ways that both support and encourage diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Strong attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree with an emphasis in Learning, Psychology, Business Administration, Organization Development, Human Resource Management, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with Theme Park and Cruise Operations
  • Experience in client consulting with multiple, cross-functional stakeholders
  • Demonstrated use of innovative learning techniques, digital technologies, and/or tools to support delivery of work
  • Proficiency with the latest project delivery methodologies (e.g. waterfall, Scrum, and Lean, etc.)
  • Formal certification/education/experience in applying learning models, adult development theory, or curriculum development


Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in Adult Learning / Education, Business or related field


Preferred Education
  • Master's degree with an emphasis in Learning, Psychology, Business Administration, Organization Development, Human Resource Management, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
