POSITION SUMMARY:
The Government Contracting Business Development Specialist is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and
securing government contracts to drive business growth. This position involves conducting in-depth market
research, collaborating with sales teams, and fostering relationships with key public sector stakeholders to
expand the company's presence in the government market.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Market Research and Relationship Management - 100%
Identify potential government opportunities through research and networking
Conduct market intelligence and monitor on upcoming procurements, expiring contracts, and strategic initiatives
Collaborate with sales teams to develop targeted business development strategies
Develop and nurture relationships with government agencies, prime contractors, potential team partners ,and industry stakeholders
Conduct training sessions for team members on best practices, tools, and strategies for government contracting and business development

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE)
Analyze data utilizing platforms like GovWin to analyze data, track industry trends, and inform business development strategies.
Generate leads, creating contact lists, and maintaining a database of potential opportunities for effective relationship management.

SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY/EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITY
Communicates with external stakeholders, government agencies, and clients
Coordinate and manage multiple projects
Department/Division budget of generally $1MM+

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or related field.
3-5+ years of related experience
Proven track record in government contracting, sales and business development
Effective communication and leadership skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong research and analytical skills to identify opportunities and make data driven decisions
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
Working knowledge of Salesforce or relative CRM systems
Working knowledge of document management systems
Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with government agencies, prime contractors, and internal teams.
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the public sector.
Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and conditions in contracts and partnerships
Proficiency in creating and delivering compelling presentations to stakeholders
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in all activities
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Solid critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
