This is a full-time, direct placement for Pan-Pacific Mechanical
OBJECTIVE: The Senior Mechanical Engineer at Pan-Pacific Mechanical independently performs detailed phases of design engineering work for a project of moderate to large size and complexity to design and engineer HVAC, Piping, and hydronic systems to assure safe, reliable and energy-efficient operation. This requires the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria where the scope is already outlined in the form of contract drawings, specifications, one-line drawings and component estimates. The senior mechanical engineer must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of HVAC design engineering and be capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews RFP documents and drawings for major components to be used in the system to assure compliance with specifications, code and requirements of design-assist projects.
Develops specifications, working drawings, sequence of operations, points lists, controls diagrams, and other related documents of a complex project of moderate to large size.
Reviews drawings and evaluates the need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations in the form of value-engineered design solutions in design-assist and design-build projects.
Involvement with Preconstruction, develop conceptual designs, coordinate with estimating and possible interviews for HVAC projects.
Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing and scheduling of construction activities.
Ensures that production of drawings, specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.
May plan, schedule, coordinate and oversee the work of lower-level engineers.
Serve as project leader to coordinate efforts of engineers, designers, and drafters during all project phases.
Perform peer review of engineered systems designed by colleagues.
Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals, and contractors.
Other tasks as needed.
Requirements
Minimum 8 years related experience in the design of HVAC, piping, and plumbing design.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Strong knowledge and understanding of various load and energy modeling software.
Proficient with REVIT and AutoCAD.
Strong analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Must be able to communicate in a professional manner, be able to work with various personalities and work styles, and be a collaborative team-player.
Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision as well as the ability to collaborate with the team.
Punctual and able to meet fast deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to lead and mentor others.
Proficient with MS Office Suite(Word, Excel, Outlook).
PE license in good standing.
LEED AP strongly desired.
