Position Summary
Thales is looking for an Obsolescence Manager (OM), whose responsible for managing the obsolescence process to completion. To effectively manage the obsolescence process, the OM will collaborate closely with various departments, including Engineering, NAS Industry, supply chain, procurement, and Customer Service. This collaboration aims to identify and recommend suitable replacement component solutions or to arrange for Lifetime Buy Orders (LBO) when necessary.
In this position, the OM will leverage their expertise and the collective knowledge of these teams to ensure that all obsolescence issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.

Obsolescence Manager

Position Summary
Thales is looking for an Obsolescence Manager (OM), whose responsible for managing the obsolescence process to completion. To effectively manage the obsolescence process, the OM will collaborate closely with various departments, including Engineering, NAS Industry, supply chain, procurement, and Customer Service. This collaboration aims to identify and recommend suitable replacement component solutions or to arrange for Lifetime Buy Orders (LBO) when necessary.
In this position, the OM will leverage their expertise and the collective knowledge of these teams to ensure that all obsolescence issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Immediate Action: Address obsolescence issues immediately after identification through validation and documentation of replacement parts.
- Reporting: Prepare and present obsolescence reports and recommendations for specific funded products either monthly or quarterly.
- Performance Indicators: Meet all Operations key performance indicators as defined by yearly objectives. Component Identification: Ensure long-term component identification for sustainability of design, manufacturing reducibility, conformance to current standards, and reliability.
- Monitoring: Monitor obsolescence reporting prepared by Thales Component Information System (TCIS) and ensure Bills of Material (BOMs) utilize components from the Thales Preferred Parts List where possible.
- Design Reviews: Participate in Design Reviews to ensure components used are not at near-term obsolescence risk. Prediction Tools: Use Thales obsolescence prediction tools to verify designs do not include obsolescence risks.
- Collaboration: Work with Engineering Product Design Authorities to track and predict obsolescence using available Thales and external tools.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) with 5 years related electrical / electronic hardware experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experienced in BOM Scrubbing.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office Suite, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
- Extremely organized with relentless attention to detail. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong technical background and understanding of obsolescence management. Proficiency in using obsolescence prediction tools and systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Experienced in data mining within large volumes of technical data in an organized manner using multiple programs and processes, with a record of accomplishment of exceptional reliability and excellent attention to detail. Experience using a Configuration Management (CM tools).
