Our team is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Transportation and Logistics Group. The role is ideally based in our Burnaby or Vancouver office.

About the role

We are seeking a forward-thinking engineer who can:
  • Prepare technical specifications, equipment lists, material lists, drawing lists and files
  • Prepare plans, designs, calculations and cost estimates for conventional engineering, studies and development assignments.
  • Contribute to the delivery of multidiscipline engineering design by liaising with other engineering disciplines to coordinate technical information.
  • Review and advise on technical documents submitted by vendors.
  • Deliver mechanical engineering design according to required project timeframes and standards while adhering to design specifications.
  • Guide designers in preparing layouts
  • Assist the drafting division in the production of project design drawings by providing technical assistance and reviewing and approving drawings in a timely manner
  • Travel to client sites and participate in site work such as inspections and field verifications.


About You

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in your province/territory.
  • 8+ years of experience in preparation of tender packages, requisitions specifications, bid evaluations, package follow-up and vendor documents and drawing reviews.
  • Experience with mining and port bulk material handling equipment such as, conveyors, feeders, stockpiles, crushers, rail unloading facilities, ports and terminals, shiploader and stockyard equipment.
  • Experience performing calculations and design for bulk handling equipment and facilities.
  • Knowledge of conveyor modelling software
  • Knowledge of discrete element modelling (DEM)
  • Ability to lead project scope with some supervision.
  • Comfortable interacting with clients and providing direction to vendors and contractors.
  • Prior experience working with an engineering consulting firm, equipment vendors or mining companies on mining, mineral processing and port projects
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and MS Project).
  • Working knowledge of CAD, SmartPlant, 3-D software is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly motivated with strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Strong problem solving and organization skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Salary range: $105,000 - $150,000 annually

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
