As the Genetic Counseling Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a talented team of genetic counselors while working closely with a variety of specialized departments, including cardiology, Huntington's clinic, and our renowned fetal diagnosis and treatment centers.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees orientation and in-service programs within the department
  • Assure clinic coordination through optimal resource utilization maintaining a patient focus
  • Assesses departmental needs as they relate to patient care delivery and creates new strategic initiatives to meet those needs
  • Works with Executive Administration and Medical Directors as appropriate
  • Aids in long-term recruitment program development as well as enlistment and retention of employees
  • Completes performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Assists administration in the preparation of department budget; Monitors MRS
  • Integrates the clinical services and hospital departments to support research, foster an interdisciplinary approach and ensure continuity in the delivery of care
  • Participates in and coordinates employee development, especially that of supervisory staff
  • Creates new strategic initiatives including development planning, seeking appropriate approvals, facility planning, communication and marketing strategies and ongoing coordination of administrative and clinical functions; Assists Administration with justification to seek funding for new initiatives
  • Develops departmental policies
  • Performs clinical responsibilities at a highly proficient level; clinical duties reduced due to additional responsibilities
  • Collaborates with Administrative Director, Medical Director, and Supervisor to provide an optimal employee work environment
  • Maintains communications and enhances referral patterns with all referral sources
  • Participates with management in the development of departmental goals and plans.
  • Monitor utilization of EMR and reporting of patient findings; recommend further development as needed


Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetics Counseling (ABGC) accredited institution.
  • Seven years as a Genetic Counselor (GC IV or higher) and at least one year of previous clinical operational supervisory experience (not student related) OR clinical responsibilities that include managerial responsibilities

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certified genetic counselor who holds a PA license.
  • Act 34
