Reports To: VP of Foundry Operations
Core Hours: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
Typical Work Week: M-F; a few Saturdays as needed; 40 - 45 hours a week on average
Direct Reports: Two Technicians
Travel: NA
COVID Protocol: No Special Protocol; Individuals can wear masks if desired

What You'll Do:
As the Automation Engineer you will design and implement automation solutions, drive successful project outcomes and enhance processes to be more efficient. You will also integrate robot installations and connections into a virtual space ensuring seamless operation.
Your Accountabilities in the Role:
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and develop innovative automation solutions.
- Envisions, designs, and develops work holding fixtures, effectors, and robot tooling for various applications to enhance processes and products.
- Utilizes expertise In Fanuc robots, Cobots, and Robot Operating System (ROS) language to program, configure, and optimize robotic systems to improve efficiencies.
- Integrates robot installations and connections into a virtual space, aligning with the digital twin concept to ensure seamless operation.
- Tests, troubleshoots, and debugs automation systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborates with software engineers and data scientists to enhance the capabilities of the digital twin through real-time data integration.
- Provides technical expertise and support throughout the entire project lifecycle, from conceptualization to implementation and post-installation maintenance to ensure successful project outcomes
- Stays up to date with emerging trends, advancements, and best practices in mechatronics, automation, and robotics to ensure we stay up to date with best practices.
Position Requirements:
- Education: BS degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation Engineering, or a related field; will consider a combination of education and experience.
- Experience: 2+ years of designing and implementing automation solutions or similar industry experience.
- Certifications: NA
- Functional Skills: Excellent ability to research, analyze and gather information to design effective automation control solutions, focused on the goal of the customer; exceptional organizational skills with a high attention to detail and a strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and due dates; excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues.
- Technology Skills: Experience and knowledge in programming and configuring Fanuc robots, Cobots, and Robot Operating System (ROS) programming language. Strong understanding of automation principles, robotics kinematics, and dynamics. Experience with virtual environments, digital twins, and integrating robotic systems into virtual spaces.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present to others and communicate technical matters to all levels within and outside of the organization.
- Leadership/ Behaviors: Strong focus on customers and quality; forward-thinking with high motivation to execute on efficiencies; able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple projects; able to work independently and within teams; ability to think, listen, reflect and create solutions; calm personality, who is collaborative and supportive of teams and customers with a passion for innovation, automation and continuous learning.
