Description:
The Director of Hospice is responsible for the overall clinical and administrative leadership of Hospice of the Shenandoah (HOS) at Augusta Health. This role ensures delivery of high-quality, compliant, patient-centered care through effective oversight of clinical services, staff management, regulatory adherence, and quality improvement initiatives. The Director ensures operations align with federal, state, and accrediting body requirements (including CMS Hospice Conditions of Participation and ACHC standards), while fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and growth. The Director exercises authority over budget, staffing, policy development, and operational oversight as delegated by the governing body and consistent with hospice regulations.
This position also provides leadership in strategic service line development, working to expand hospice services across the service region in alignment with community needs, referral trends, and system strategy. The Director is a key member of the nursing division's leadership team and contributes to the broader success of Augusta Health.

Education/Licensure
- MSN
- Valid Virginia RN License
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of hospice nursing experience as an RN
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a Medicare-certified hospice program
- Demonstrated experience in regulatory survey preparedness and quality improvement
