Job Description
Responsible for the overall direction of the Emergency Management Program which includes the oversight, coordination, and implementation of emergency management standards to facilitate a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Coordinates the emergency education and exercises systemwide within the organization to ensure an organized response during a disaster. Ensures compliance, maintenance, and plan and policy development and overlooks annual program reviews and performance management for the Security Management and Fire Safety Management Programs.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Coordinates intra and interagency exercises and drills to include exercise design, partner engagement, logistics support, and development of after action reports and improvement plans.
2. Executes FEMA Public Assistance requests on behalf of the organization and administers emergency preparedness and security grants both fiscally and operationally.
3. Acts as an administrator of AHS emergency notification system (AHECN) with responsibility for system testing, maintenance, and training.
4. Responds to surveys and information requests from local, state, and federal agencies specific to emergency preparedness and during emergency situations.
5. Represents AHS at meetings and while planning, updating, or revising Emergency Operations Plans with external emergency response agencies.
6. Maintains and deploys AHS Emergency Management assets and equipment (E.g. surge tents, morgue trailers, etc.).
7. Coordinates with AHS Communications and Human Resources regarding teams member emergency communications.
8. Participates in the Joint Commission accreditation process and regulatory surveys for AHS regarding emergency management.
9. Provides oversight for Security and Fire Safety compliance, plan/policy development and maintenance, training, annual program reviews, and program performance management.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Emergency and Disaster management or related field.
2. 7-10 years of experience in Emergency and Disaster management in Healthcare Industry or relevant area.
3. Incident Command 700, 800, 100, 200, 300, 400 Certifications.
4. Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program and Methods of Instruction Certifications.
5. Emergency Management Certification (CEM, CHEP, and/or NJCEM).
6. Valid NJ driver's license.
Preferred:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Emergency and Disaster management or related
field.
2. Registered Nurse and or Clinical Experience.
3. HAZWOPER /Hospital Emergency Response Instructor Certification.
4. Incident Command System Instructor.
5. Master Exercise Practitioner Program (MEPP) Certification.

About the Team
The AHS Protection and Security Services (PSS) team provides 24/7 security coverage at our medical centers and (CMC, HMC, MMC, NMC, OMC, and Union ED) and is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patients, team members and visitors. Uniformed PSS officers are assigned posts and routinely patrol the facilities and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry. During their tours, officers visually examine doors, windows and gates to ensure they remain intact and secure. Each PSS team member is highly trained to maintain an atmosphere that is calming to patients and welcoming to their families while also being able to deescalate situations in which emotions run high. All officers are specially trained in response control tactics and techniques and are called to respond to occurrences of workplace violence and fire safety. The PSS team is trained and leads our first response to significant events such as (Code Lockdown & Active Shooter, Abducted Child, Building Evacuation, Bomb Threats, etc.). The PSS team controls card access privileges at each of the medical centers; officers are trained to confront all unauthorized persons and, when necessary, contact local law enforcement for assistance. Additionally, PSS has an Investigations Office, which conducts follow-up investigations for all significant cases (i.e., Suspicion of Drug Diversion, Allegations of Assault, Domestic Violence, Workplace Violence, etc.); and an Emergency Management Office, which is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and implementation of emergency management standards system-wide to facilitate a safe environment.
