Job Overview

The Sr. Manager Engineering & Transformation will be responsible for generating and leading the strategic planning and execution of effective Engineering, Automation, and Transformational systems, tools and practices globally across the Medical Business Unit Footprint.

They will deploy a roadmap aligned with both the manufacturing and product/commercial teams to automate business processes utilizing such tools as Process Automation, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Automated Visual Inspection (AVI) in support of "Building In Quality" while helping overall improvement in cost and pricing.

The role will also lead the Engineering aspect of Continuous Improvement relating to transforming current/established process methodologies in support of tangible Safety, Quality, Cost and Productivity gains along with establishing Engineering and Process Platform standards delivering standard methodologies and equipment globally.

This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Director of Business Excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a Long-Term visionary strategy for three key Engineering Aspects of Equipment and Process Engineering, Automation, and Transformation via the Hoshin Kanri methodology.
  • Develop and apply annual planning of tangible goals relating to the Hoshin Kanri as well as the Voice of Process and Voice of Customer.
  • Practical innovation and Automation as the catalyst to Quality, Service, Pricing and Cost.
  • Develop and deploy Engineering solutions to support Cost, Capacity and Quality enhancement as the enabler to Customer and Shareholder experience.
  • Support Product Development in the optimization of designs and processes for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes.
  • Organizational design and Agility to support the Product Business Unit and Core Processing Capabilities across the BU.
  • Ensure the integrity of new process/technology design for product and process performance.
  • Effective Simulation and Process Design.
  • Connection and collaboration with NPD/NPI activities.
  • Financial accountability for the organizational activities and expected deliverables/outcomes.
  • Development of the teams technical and leadership capabilities ensuring a pathway of succession.
  • Understand and utilize Industrial and Technology market developments and best practices with effective translation to operational effective solutions.
  • Engage people and generate excitement about the future stage of operations and get the right engagement to execute necessary improvements.
  • Set the right priorities for the Engineering group, as well influence in the definition of operations targets for the various sites.
  • Execute in a disciplined way, organizing studies and improvement activities, which will drive service model and gross margin improvements across the sub vertical footprint.
  • Lead cross functional improvements initiatives in support of a single goal to establish a world class operations footprint enabling customer growth.
  • Holds people accountable for accomplishing plans, eliminating "turn backs" and fostering teamwork.
  • Be recognized as a master in collaboration across boundaries, transferring best practices among regions/Bus and partnering with functional teams from corporate and other BUs.

  • Ensure a consistent and standard approach to the application of scientific/practical problem solving across the Medical BU facilities.
  • Ensure a consistent and compliant approach to Safety Standards and Regulations throughout the BU footprint.


What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, Master's Degree preferred.
  • 10 to 15 years of professional experience with focus on Process Engineering, Engineering Management, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
  • Previous experience leading and transforming Engineering function and Operations at multiple sites or value stream level is essential.
  • Process & Quality Validations in medical device manufacturing environment preferred or other regulated industry
  • Solid proficiency in technical documentation, including advanced CAD modeling and engineering drawings.
  • Solid knowledge of SPC, DOE, and CPK/PPK application.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills at all levels from the shop floor to top management.
  • Strong team leader, ability to think strategically and execute tactically to deliver results.
  • Analytically, data-driven and problem-solving mindset.
  • Six Sigma Variation Reduction / Lean Six Sigma Certification. (Black Belt)
  • Ability to have a holistic overview of complex situations and flexibility to deal effectively with difficult issues when they arise.
  • The role will involve travel to other regions within the business unit and will require overnight stays.

COMPENSATION
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience:$169,500 - $248,900 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
