A classroom teacher fosters and enhances an effective learning environment; facilitates the development or revision of curriculum and instructional materials; establishes learning objectives and standards based upon general District guidelines; provides instruction; counsels, disciplines, and supervises to meet the individual needs of assigned students, and evaluates student performance and progress.

The Candidate
CERTIFICATION EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
- Valid Washington State teaching certification with endorsement appropriate for the grade level(s) for which you are applying.
- Demonstrated communication skills: written with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech; speaking with poise, voice control and confidence, using correct English and well-modulate voice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years' teaching experience in grade level range for which you are applying.
- Able to understand and align Sequim School Districts' frameworks with the common core state standards and other state standards.
- Familiar with Charlotte Danielson's Framework for Teaching
Licenses and Other Requirements:
- Valid Washington State teaching certification with endorsement appropriate for the grade level(s) for which you are applying.
- Highly Qualified in elementary education.
- Pre-employment requirements include a Washington State Patrol check, FBI, and sexual misconduct clearance.

The Details
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
- Teaches, or shares responsibility for teaching, reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to pupils in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.
- Creates, with assistance of pupils, an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, study skills and other elements of the course of study specified by Sequim School District.
- Cooperatively sets performance objectives appropriate to the interest and maturity levels of students.
- Communicates with parents through a variety of means: parent conferences when needed to discuss the individual pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve problems of mental and physical health, attitude and learning.
- Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time.
- Determines instructional materials designed to achieve goals and performance objectives appropriate to the interest and maturity level of student.
