Job Title: RN - Same Day Services/Post OP/Phase 2
Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Operating Room

Hours per Shift: 7.5 to 8 hours
Experience: Minimum of 2 years
License: Active RN License Required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
Must-Have:
IV starts
Admissions
Recoveries
Experience with endoscopy and C-sections
Experience in PACU/Phase 2
Knowledge of procedural sedation
Description:
This position involves working in same-day services, phase 2 recovery, and procedural sedation for gastrointestinal procedures and outpatient procedures.
The RN prepares patients for surgery and monitors intraoperative conditions.
Assistance with recovery is a key part of this role.
Administer RN moderate sedation for endoscopy procedures.
Direct assistance to the surgeon and anesthetist is required during procedures.
Outpatient duties include IV therapy, blood product transfusions, and wound dressing changes.
Preoperative and postoperative patient phone calls are expected.
Responsibilities also include sterilization of surgical instruments and reprocessing of endoscopy equipment.
Mean patient ratios may vary widely but generally have a 4:1 ratio.
The average number of cases per day includes 5 endoscopy cases, scheduled and emergent C-sections, and 9 cataract cases twice a month.
Occasional podiatry cases may also be involved.
This role does not require scrubbing duties.
A manager is available for immediate concerns during shifts.
There are no techs or nurse aids on this unit.
Meditech is the electronic medical record system used.
This position does not involve ICU patients recovering in PACU.
Call requirements are not applicable for the same-day services department.
Floating may occur to other departments as needed based on case load.
There are no restrictions on scrub colors or dress codes.
Orientation includes one week of unit-specific training.
Additional time off requests will not be approved after submission.
The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts for a 13-week assignment.
This position operates in an acute care setting.
All certifications must be current.
