Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the day to day operations of the imaging department which include organizing staff schedules and coverage needs, maintaining productivity and quality standards. Oversees staff activities, monitors room utilization and provides work direction to technical nursing staff as necessary. Serves as a resource for interpretation, education and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Recommends, develops, implements, and maintains quality assurance and performance improvement programs, which include evaluation of costs, patient care, and radiation or patient safety in all areas of responsibility.
  • Maintains a direct line of communication with the department leaders, technologists, radiologists, and other departments to assure the optimum in patient flow and patient care.
  • Plans, organizes, establishes and maintains technical and system changes and improvements that are cost effective and benefit patient care.
  • Identifies and participates in the resolution of interdepartmental problems and recommends changes as defined by observed trends. Investigates patient, family, physician, nursing, and/or hospital staff complaints and responds to suggestions and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Participates in the budget process and is responsible for operating within budgetary allocations. Initiates, participates, and assists in the research, purchase, and implementation of capital acquisitions.
  • Participates and assists in the development and maintenance of job descriptions, policies and procedures and operating protocols for the department.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale. Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and

Radiography (R) registration issued by the America Registry or Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

OR

Nuclear Medicine Tech (N) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or

Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification (CNMT) issued by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or

ARDMS certification issued by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.

Education Required:
  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.


Experience Required:
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in radiologic technology that may include one or more of the following modalities: diagnostics, CT, MRI, DVI or ultrasound, which includes experience as a lead or senior level staff.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Demonstrated leadership skills such as delegation, team building, managing multiple priorities, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Proficient in radiology positioning and techniques, aseptic techniques and C-arm.
  • Advanced knowledge of radiation safety and radiology equipment.
  • Knowledge of specialty physician protocols and ability to work effectively with diverse providers.
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for majority of the day.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Pay Range
$34.90 - $64.95
