Job Summary
As the Manager of the Systems Engineering Group (Manager) reporting directly to the Vice President of Systems at Welch Equipment Company, you hold the important role of being the business leader overseeing sales, engineering, and project delivery personnel. Your primary responsibilities include hiring, developing, and supporting a highly skilled team of professionals who offer automation solutions to clients in our market. Working closely with each employee, you will ensure their proficiency and efficiency within their respective roles, while maintaining adherence to established policies and procedures. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in spearheading the development of new accounts, engaging in customer contract negotiations, and continuously improving both internal and external processes.

- Compensation Range: $150,000 - $180,000 depending on experience
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning - Developing and executing strategic plans for the Systems Engineering group, aligning them with the overall business objectives and targets. This involves setting goals, defining key performance indicators (KPIs), and creating actionable plans to achieve them.
- Team Management - Building and leading a high-performing team of professionals, including sales engineers, cad designers, project engineers, and project managers. This involves hiring and developing talented individuals, assigning responsibilities, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Operations and Project Management - Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Systems group, including project management, resource allocation, and budgeting. Ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget, while maintaining quality standards and client satisfaction.
- Business Development - Help with the identification and pursuit of business opportunities in the region, such as new projects, partnerships, and client relationships. This includes helping sales engineers conduct market research, lead generation, proposal development, and negotiation of contracts.
- Client Relationships - You will help the system sales engineers build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring their satisfaction with the services provided by the Systems group. This involves effective communication, regular updates, and proactive problem-solving.
- Performance Accountability - The Manager is responsible for understanding the key performance indicators for each role under their supervision and providing coaching and feedback to help employees grow in their career.
- Building Relationships - You will be tasked with building relationships inside and outside of the company. The Systems group will regularly work with Internal Departments as well as third party vendors, and the Manager is critical to effective collaboration with these groups.
- Continuous Improvement - Outside of the day-to-day duties, the Manager will help support continuous improvement initiatives that help the business improve client satisfaction and efficiency of internal processes.
- Risk Management- The Manager plays a crucial role in assisting their system sales engineers in identifying project opportunities with potential risks and challenges. This involves evaluating the organization's capabilities, identifying any limitations, and devising alternative solutions or courses of action when necessary. By doing so, the Manager ensures that potential problems are addressed early on, reducing the likelihood of significant issues arising during project execution.
Requirements (KSAs)
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline
- Masters of Business Administration (MBA) a plus
- 5 - 10 years in material handling and/or industrial automation is preferred
- Solution sales experience is a plus
- Ability to understand industrial floorplans
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft application
- Outstanding demonstrated performance in previous career path
- Strong strategic sales and business development skills
- Ability to coach and mentor employees for growth
- Ability to build strong business relationships and partnerships
- Excellent recruiting and retention skills
- Highly organized with strong project management skills
- Must be eligible to work in the US long-term without sponsorship.
- Travel: Occasional travel to other branches and customer locations
