Description

Under close supervision, assists in providing technical advice and guidance for designated projects and programs for Resource Management [Environmental Technology (ET) and Life Cycle Analysis Team (LCAT)]. This position will support ET/LCAT's applied research and development programs to safely advance business-critical projects. The selected candidate will assist in the design, implementation, operation, and monitoring of projects utilizing emerged and emerging technologies with the overarching goal of managing environmental liabilities.
  • Assists in the review, investigation, and development of appropriate recommendations for assigned liability management projects. Provides evaluation of project background, historical data and information, and project goals for assessment of viable alternatives.
  • Participates in conceptualization, site visits and investigation, development, evaluation, implementation or modification for small- to medium-scale projects.
  • Supervises field and laboratory activities and works with support personnel, site contacts, and vendors/consultants.
  • Develop working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar)
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of the scientific method.
  • Able to research, synthesize, and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safety culture among FM and contractor employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in mine closure and reclamation, including planning, permitting, execution, and post-closure monitoring.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS with the ability to analyze spatial data and generate high-quality maps and report.
  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD, including drafting, design, and interpretation of engineering drawings related to reclamation and closure activities.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify and resolve technical and regulatory challenges in closure and reclamation projects.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, land use planning, and stakeholder engagement related to mine site closure.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time or as business requires.


What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $72,000-$98,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
