Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS), Bellevue, NE is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to work within the NC2 organization and be a key contributor to define, manage, and implement site Operations and Maintenance (O&M). This role will be a hybrid role, with fifty percent being software engineering and fifty percent being responsible for onsite operations. Fifty percent of the time, you will be imbedded within USSTRATCOM and work collaboratively across the NC2 organization to achieve the duties of this position. The other fifty percent of the time will be spent with the software development teams to support feature development through the agile software development lifecycle. The candidates will work closely with other software developers accomplishing the following:
  • Coordinate with NC2 personnel, customers, and subcontractors to plan and manage all on-site operations and maintenance activities.
  • Provide input to processes and procedures for on-site tasks related to maintenance, operations and Operations and Maintenance metrics reporting.
  • Manage, track, and implement change proposals for NC2 systems.
  • Track engineering and configuration control board processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the installation, integration, and operationalization of the software in NC2 environments.
  • Ensure the program complies with preventive and corrective maintenance database updates, data collection and reporting (quality, reliability and maintenance), personnel planning, etc.
  • Advise on issues/problems faced during maintenance activities.
  • Develop and/or use troubleshooting, monitoring, and reporting tools to analyze the root cause of serious and impactful technical issues.
  • Support during real time operational and exercise events, as required.
  • Work with the team during the Agile software development lifecycle to develop, test, and demonstrate NC2 software features.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience; 3years with a Master's; 1 years with a PhD. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application with ability to obtain Top Secret and eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tool suite
  • Familiar with Engineering Drawings, Technical Manual Development, and Training Development
  • Demonstrated experience in Object Oriented programming (Java, C# or similar).
  • Experience working within the agile software development lifecycle on a software development team.
  • Ability to travel to USSTRATCOM 50%

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Experienced with Technical Documentation development, to include technical manuals/orders, drawings and Training material
  • Experienced with planning, and managing the deployment and fielding of software
  • Experience with DoD provisioning systems
  • Experience with IT Asset Management or License Management
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams in a project-oriented environment
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite


Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
