As the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting, you will be a crucial part of the finance team, responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting, overseeing the month-end close process, maintaining robust SOX controls, and managing monthly account reconciliations. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in finance, SOX compliance, and team leadership. You will work closely with corporate accounting to maintain compliance, implement process improvements, and ensure the financial health of our Radio and Reach Media Segments.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Oversee monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, ensuring all items are reconciled and properly documented
o Identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies in account reconciliations
o Implement best practices for reconciliation processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency
Analyze variances from budgeted and forecasted results, providing insights to support strategic decision-making
Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and other adjustments
Manage and enforce SOX controls within the Radio and Reach Media Segment, ensuring all controls are executed and documented in accordance with company policy
o Lead remediation efforts for any identified control gaps
Serve as a primary contact for external auditors regarding Radio and Reach Media's accounting and financial reporting
Stay updated on SOX regulations and work to continuously improve control processes to mitigate risks
Proactively identify opportunities to improve month-end close, reconciliation, and SOX control processes.
Partner with cross-functional teams to drive process efficiencies, automation, and system enhancements.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
Strong accounting background, including knowledge of recent accounting pronouncements (e.g., ASC 606)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Submit to a criminal background check
Legal right to work in the United States
Complies with Network and Urban One's mandatory training and adheres to related course deadlines
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA certification required. 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably in a public company environment and/or Big 4 accounting firm.
