We have an exciting opportunity for a Spacecraft Core Flight Software Engineer (SkillBridge Conversion) to join our team!

As a Spacecraft Core Flight Software Engineer (SkillBridge Conversion) you will :
  • Decompose system requirements into software requirements.
  • Develop Requirements Traceability Matrix
  • Write software to build interfaces between vehicle level GFE code and module level contractor-supplied code
  • Analyze performance of SW interfaces and do integration testing
  • Develop C software to provide the required functionality
  • Perform software testing and verification
  • Develop software documentation
  • Document interfaces and develop an interface control document
  • Serve as software Subject Matter Expert
  • Develop unit and interface verification tests
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Requisition Qualifications:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.
  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required.
  • Strong C programming skills and experience within the last 2 years
  • Proficiency with C coding in a Linux environment
  • Strong Python skills and experience within the last 2 years
  • Familiar with Integrated Development Environments (IDE) Tools
  • Experience with web-based collaboration tools
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • System and software configuration management
  • Good oral and written communication with customers and team members
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple actions, and both short term and long-term projects
  • Customer service oriented
  • Must be willing to work onsite at Johnson Space Center

Requisition Preferences:
  • Experience with agile software development
  • Experience with embedded processors
  • Experience with VxWorks Real-time Operating System (RTOS)
  • Data driven architecture experience
  • Experience with Core Flight System (cFS) Applications (or similar flight software
    framework)
  • Experience with NASA NPR 7150.2 or DO178C
  • Experience with NASA Safety Standards and requirements, NASA-STD-8739.8, that drive the processes for Safety Critical Software Development
  • Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop and test safety critical software
  • Experience with software testing and verification
  • Experience developing software across the full development life cycle
  • Experience with the following web-based collaboration tools
    • Gitlab
    • JIRA
    • Confluence
  • Quick learner and self-motivated
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision
  • Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic
  • Highly developed coordination and organization skills

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance following an established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust the schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
