Job Summary
This position reports to the Manager Operations Claims to protect the Company's assets and self-insured retention by investigating and defending PSEG when 3rd parties file damage claims against the Company and pursue financial recovery claims seeking subrogation of company assets damaged by 3rd parties. This position will investigate and resolve claims for and against the Company that do not require field investigation.
Job Responsibilities
Builds comprehensive investigation data and fact patterns by securing and evaluating company and non-company records (e.g., paper documents; electronic, computer-based files); conducts interviews with customers, witnesses, internal clients, law enforcement officers, insurance company representatives, and other outside, disinterested parties, to obtain facts of case.
Prepares formal, written investigation reports, letters, and other documents
Evaluates claims with regard to both liability and damages.
Analyzes and establishes liability and evaluates financial and other risk to the Company, and independently negotiates matters on behalf of PSEG
Responds to and handles to resolution, executive/customer complaint issues as requested by the Utility, Customer Relations and External Affairs
Sets accurate reserves in accordance with PSEG's financial guideline
Approves or denies claims directly with customers, attorneys, and insurance carriers. In matters that cannot be resolved, prepares the case for arbitration and/or litigation. Renders testimony before Courts, administrative panels, and arbitrators.
Job Specific Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Associate's Degree and one year insurance claims, investigation or utility experience, or minimum 2 years insurance claims, investigation, or utility experience.
Knowledge of the utility business, insurance, general investigation, or claim experience is REQUIRED.

Required Competencies:

Candidate must have excellent negotiation, interviewing and investigative skills, as well as oral and written communication skills, time management, problem solving, and analytical skills.
Excellent Computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated working knowledge of PSE&G operations, coupled with prior investigation and/or claims experience.
Knowledge of applicable tariffs, case law and statutes, insurance laws and practices, State/Federal Contractor Regulations and Law, New Jersey Motor Vehicle Regulations, Underground Facilities Protection Act, and PSEG operating policies and practices.
Interpretative knowledge of the energy operating infrastructure.
Knowledge of proprietary systems utilized by the Claims Department, e.g. ROXI, iPower, SAP, DWMS, GIS, and OMS.
