Computational Physics, Inc. (CPI) is seeking a Windows System Administrator to support our customers at the United States Naval Observatory (USNO) in the deployment and maintenance of its new Precise Time and Astrometry Network.
The USNO is responsible for the production and dissemination of precise parameters concerning time, star positions, and the earth's rotation to the Department of Defense (DoD) and intelligence community, other U.S. Government (USG) users such as NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as well as non-USG civilian and international users. Distribution of these parameters supports GPS navigation, among other applications, an important national and international function. A reliable, secure, maintainable and manageable USNO network is crucial to the production and dissemination of these data products.

The position will be located at the United States Naval Observatory in Washington, DC. Partial telework may be permitted in accordance with applicable Navy and Observatory guidance in effect at the time.

The successful candidate will:
- Provide direct technical support to the Precise Time, Celestial Reference Frame, Earth Orientation, and Astronomical Applications Departments at USNO.
- Work with USNO Information Assurance staff to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
- Prepare and maintain associated documentation.
The position will be located at the United States Naval Observatory in Washington, DC. Partial telework may be permitted in accordance with applicable Navy and Observatory guidance in effect at the time.
Qualifications:
- Five or more years of experience managing and configuring Windows operating systems
- Experience with configuring, patching & hardening of domain environments (AD, DNS, ADFS)
- Experience configuring and managing Windows Active Directory Services and LDAP
- Experience with WSUS to manage patching
- Experience creating and maintaining group policies
- Experience with DoD certificate lifecycle management
- Experience with servers in virtualized environments (VMware)
- Experience with STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide)
- Experience remediating vulnerabilities reported in ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution) and other security standards
- Experience integrating servers via alerting systems (Solarwinds)
- A working knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting tools
- Security+ certification, or DoD-accepted equivalent
- S. citizenship is required by our contract with the Navy
- Experience in DoD cybersecurity is highly desirable
- Microsoft certifications are highly desirable
