In this key role, you will shape the General Manager/CEO and Executive Leadership Team's thought leadership presence by crafting compelling, cohesive communications that align with our mission and strategic goals.
In this role, you will create high-impact executive presentations, video scripts, speeches, talking points, and content for leadership forums, town halls, and external engagements. Partnering across departments, you'll identify and amplify opportunities for executive visibility, including podcasts, media engagements, and curated social media content. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment, skillfully navigating ambiguity, and balancing autonomy with collaboration. We're looking for a seasoned communicator with strong stakeholder management skills, experience in executive coaching, and a talent for crafting messages that resonate with audiences and advance our mission.
This hybrid position offers both collaboration and flexibility. You'll be on-site every Tuesday and Thursday to engage with colleagues and leadership, with the option to work remotely on other weekdays. We value adaptability, so occasional adjustments to your in-office schedule may be needed to support meetings or evolving business priorities.

Job Purpose:

In partnership with leadership, designs and delivers cohesive communications support for the General Manager/CEO and Executive Leadership Team (internal/external communications including presentations, talking points, speeches, bylined articles, leadership forums, town halls); authentically captures the voice of Executive Leadership; and translates complex information into compelling corporate messages that advance OUC's mission and strategic initiatives.

This job is absent of disagreeable working conditions. This job is performed in an office work environment. This job includes constant standing, walking, sitting, speaking/hearing, and writing/typing, reading and detailed inspection. There may be occasional reaching over head, and lifting up to forty (40) lbs. Also, this job may require driving of a company vehicle.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in corporate or executive communications, crisis communications, brand/reputation management or media relations, including experience providing strategic communications counsel and executive coaching
- Proven ability to capture executive voice and translate complex or technical content into clear, strategic messaging aligned with organizational priorities
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, grounded in AP style, with experience developing speeches, video scripts, presentations, talking points, and editorial content for diverse audiences.
- Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advise, influence, and collaborate effectively across executive and cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-profile environment while maintaining a high-level attention to detail
- Advanced PowerPoint skills; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) is a plus.
- Experience in a highly regulated or public-facing industry (e.g., utilities, government, or healthcare) is preferred

Primary Functions:
- Research, develop, draft, write, edit and coordinate creation of compelling and engaging speeches, editorial content, organizational announcements, scripts, talking points, key messaging, briefing materials, letters and other communications for executive leaders.
- Provides subject matter expertise in developing communications, while ensuring consistent messaging strategy and brand identity across content.
- Partner across business units to create PowerPoint presentations and videos for internal meetings and external conferences.
- Craft targeted and personalized messages for various audiences and stakeholders and coordinate delivery in channel(s) that will most effectively reach them.
- Provide counsel to Executive Leadership team on content that will deliver optimal audience engagement.
- Translate complex ideas, objectives, philosophy, and various topics into appropriate messaging that relates to topic, speaker, and intended audience.
- Develop and coordinate strategic communications and positioning plans/approaches for executive leaders that support organization's goals.
- Collaborate with executives and support staff to execute positioning plans.
- Work closely across business units on issues management and thought leadership opportunities.
- Assist with planning, execution, and content of internal leadership meetings, including Leadership Forums, Town Halls and other events.
- Participate in emergency event drills/training, and support emergency/response efforts as needed.
- Participate in coordination of crisis communications and issues management response strategy for urgent media matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements:
- Working knowledge of all, but not limited to, the following:
- Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism fundamentals.
- Thorough knowledge of Associated Press Style.
- Project management and coordination.
- Creative development.
- PowerPoint presentations, charts, diagrams, informational graphics/reports.
- Software applications (i.e. JDEdwards EnterpriseOne (E1), Customer Care & Billing (CC&B), graphic design and desktop publishing packages [Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro], Wrike and Sprout Social
- Familiarity with all, but not limited to, the following:

- Crisis Communications: Demonstrate capability to drive crisis and corporate communications strategy, both internal and external and coordinate crisis communications and issues management response strategy for urgent media matters.
- Project Management: Demonstrate capability to balance multiple priorities and achieve desired outcomes on time and within budget.
- Strategic Counsel: Demonstrate capability to provide communications counsel to partners and executive leadership.
- Rapidly respond to immediate communications needs and issues.
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, confidence and subject matter expertise liaising with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Excellent relationship management skills and ability to manage/integrate with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent Microsoft PowerPoint skills.
- Work in a team environment, including direct and frequent interactions with senior executives, managing multiple high-profile, high-priority projects concurrently and adapting quickly to changes in priorities and schedules.

Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communications, Public Relations or related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in corporate communications, crisis communications, brand/reputation management or media relations, to include:.
- Experience providing strategic communications support and counsel to executive leadership.
- Experience in electric utility industry or other highly regulated, high-profile industry, preferred.
