Division / Unit: Operations Planning / Payroll Unit
Hours of work: Managerial
Responsibilities
Manage the daily duties of the payroll analysts and payroll activities for full and part time hourly employees; review and recording of payroll records, reconciliation of payroll discrepancies, and documentation and verification of weekly payroll submissions. Responsible for processing biweekly hourly payroll, and maintenance of processing schedule. This position will participate in developing enhancements to the current payroll system that is unique to the unit.
Compensation
Salary Range: - $77,960-$110,360 (Grade G)
(UTLO) Compression Floor Rate - $112,818
Education and Experience
A Baccalaureate degree in Public Administration, Economics, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning or Engineering or a closely related field and four (4) years of full-time professional work experience in large rapid transit operations, two (2) years of which must have been in a managerial/ supervisory capacity OR a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.
Required skills:
Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills
Excellent writing, proofreading, computer skills and attention to detail
Ability to negotiate competing requirements and create consensus.
Thorough knowledge of New York City subway system, geography and demographics
Knowledge of rail operation and technology, transportation planning, familiarity with track access procedures is plus.

- Oversee payroll operations by ensuring the accuracy of The Traffic Checker weekly payroll using ATS (Automated Timekeeping System), for approximately 150 hourly TWU Local 100 employees
- Conduct weekly payroll audits and work as the departments ATS administrator
- Manage the processing of the below administrative functions:
- Employee Restorals
- Workers' Compensation Awards or Denials
- Annual Leave Allotment
- Terminal Leave reports for (retirement, transfer and death of employees)
- 60% Sick Payments
- Short Term Disability
- Leave Balance Transfers
- Off Cycle Check Request
- Daily interface with the departments CADRE's to mitigate any open and/or outstanding issues prior to end of week
- Liaison to various NYC Transit departments regarding all payroll deviations
