Our Information Security department staff works to incorporate the latest legal, ethical and technological tools so that privacy and personal information receives the highest level of protection possible.
Under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer or designee, the Information Security Officer (ISO) is responsible for the design, oversight, implementation and ongoing management of the information security program, including policies, procedures, and technical systems expertise. The ISO role addresses systems architecture and functionality as it affects safeguarding of protected health infromation (PHI) and business information assets, in compliance with federal and state laws and the healthcare organization's information privacy practices.
As the Information Security Officer, you will lead the team that protects and defends patient privacy. In this role, you will oversee design , implementation and ongoing management of the information security program and technical systems expertise and address systems architecture and functionality as it affects safeguarding of Protected Health Information (PHI) and business information assets. We are looking for someone with excellent leadership, strategic and analytical skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai'i's people.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Five (5) years experience in an information technology role. Three (3) years experience in systems security, user access and system implementations. As a condition of employment, Security and Certification required within six (6) months of hire, there must be evidence of progress towards attaining the HIMSS Certifications of Certified Healthcare Security (CHS) or becoming a Certified Information Systems Security Professional after the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a healthcare system strongly preferred. Working knowledge of HIPAA Security Rule and Epic security. Obtain continuing education credits to maintain certifications that are obtained.
