Drawing upon an extensive knowledge base, we develop, finance, engineer, build, own, and operate high quality utility-scale photovoltaic and battery energy storage projects. Our Development team is looking for a talented Permitting Manager to support the efforts of our fast-growing company. Adapture Renewables is owned by KIRKBI - the private holding and investment company of the Kirk Kristiansen family, founded to build a sustainable future for the LEGO brand through generations.

Overview

This position will work in our Development team and lead the permitting process and execution for utility-scale solar and BESS projects across the U.S. The Permitting Manager will play a key role in ensuring projects progress smoothly through all regulatory milestones and align with our mission of delivering impactful, high-integrity clean energy solutions. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Development. The candidate can be based remotely in the U.S., with periodic travel to project sites and meetings with permitting authorities and stakeholders, and our Bay Area headquarters.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop the permitting strategy and lead the permitting process from early-stage development through start of construction for solar PV and energy storage projects.
  • Develop and execute permitting procedures that align with project timelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with federal, state, and local permitting authorities to secure all necessary approvals.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with external consultants, legal advisors, and environmental experts.
  • Represent Adapture Renewables at public hearings, stakeholder meetings, and regulatory briefings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Development, Engineering, Legal) to integrate permitting workflows into overall project execution.
  • Track and maintain all permitting documentation, applications, approvals, and mitigation requirments.
  • Monitor relevant policy and regulatory developments that may impact permitting.
  • Identify permitting risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies.


Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing permitting and environmental compliance, ideally in utility-scale solar or renewable energy sectors.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Planning or Urban Development or Jurist Doctor or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated expertise of local, state, and federal permitting regulations, including NEPA, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act, ideally with experience with CEQA.
  • Experience with environmental reviews, impact studies, and land use permitting.
  • Proven track record navigating complex regulatory frameworks and engaging with permitting agencies.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation and timelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public presentation experience.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools, project management software, and permitting platforms preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed, up to 25% of time
