The Field Merchandising Specialist is responsible for the consistent execution of all merchandising programs and is responsible for the success and operational effectiveness of their respective department within the stores in their district. The Field Merchandising Specialist is responsible for building sales, developing talent, providing local feedback to teams and creating a culture of selling! In this role, the Field Merchandising Specialist is responsible for all Department KPIs and demonstrates best practices on how their respective department should operate. This role works closely with District Director and Category Director for day to day execution and overall strategy and guidance.

Primary Duties:
  • Deliver Financial KPIs for the district, for the respective product area (Sales, Gross Margin, Unit movement, Shrink, Quality rating
  • Deliver on results and KPIs for specific product area (Sales, Gross Margin, Unit movement, Inventory management, Shrink, Quality rating) and ensure Department Optimization (end-to-end)
  • Ensure adequate on-hand inventory levels, especially of items advertised in weekly circulars, providing feedback as necessary
  • Understand competitive landscape and market
  • Leverage in-depth knowledge and expertise of department to build sales, analyze problems/issues, and identify root cause of problems impacting stores related to sales while communicating these issues effectively to the appropriate levels of the organization
  • Execute merchandising plans and deliver goals for the District to include sales, profits, labor and shrink
  • Program/Project implementation affecting assigned store (Remodels, FIX, Thunder, etc.
  • Deliver direction and support stores in delivering operational initiatives, customer service goals and labor productivity
  • Opportunity Store Identification and support of turnaround plan
  • Communicate and reinforce the understanding of the fresh strategies throughout the Fresh department staff and store management teams
  • Coach and develop a team of skilled Department Managers that have the competency to meet and exceed company expectations in the areas of sales, profitability, in-store customer experience, and the development of their own teams
  • Conduct store visits spending majority of time coaching and developing department staff to achieve business results and personal growth goal
  • Coaching around how to run the department standards of practice and SOPs
  • Work with HRM on talent planning and development and discovering talent within store
  • Provide departmental expertise, direction, and training to Store Management and department staff
  • Act as the focal point to the District Director, Field Merchandising Lead regarding the communication of feedback on initiatives and in-store opportunities


Requirements:
  • Ensure Associate Engagement within the District is maintained as a priority within all levels
  • 3 - 5 years in dept
  • 1 - 2 years ASM (preferred)
  • Department Knowledge (SME )
  • Multi-store experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or equivalent retail store experience preferred
  • Highly proficient oral and interpersonal communication skills

STARTING BASE SALARY: $80,925 with annual merit increases up to $107,900
