Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, the Senior Records Officer develops, implements and sustains the records and information management (RIM) program to ensure effective information management across WCB in compliance with legal, regulatory and internal business requirements.

The role provides expert RIM services and will develop and maintain the supporting framework, including procedures for managing physical and electronic records throughout their lifecycle and during data migration.

Your Senior Records Officer responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and maintain the RIM program, including its strategic vision, policies, procedures, and supporting documentation to ensure effective operation and compliance.
  • Recommend program improvements based on industry best practices and monitor success through reporting, metrics and continuous improvement.
  • Create and periodically review retention and disposition schedules to align with legal and operational requirements.
  • Ensure RIM alignment across projects and initiatives, providing technical guidance and subject matter expertise to support records lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate on initiatives to promote RIM adoption and define requirements for electronic record systems, including data migration.
  • Develop and deliver RIM training and awareness materials for the WCB.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning from a records management perspective.
  • Provide input on requirements for records management systems and software.
  • Coordinate offsite storage logistics and retrievals.
  • Other related duties as required.


Your experience and skills:
  • A degree or postgraduate degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in records and information management, with both theoretical and applied knowledge of industry practices and standards. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining comprehensive records management program for both physical and electronic records.
  • Strong knowledge of records and information management standards, best practices, methodologies and frameworks.
  • Strong technical proficiency with EDRMS and Microsoft solutions (particularly SharePoint), and the ability to quickly learn new technologies independently.
  • Skilled in business process analysis and documentation, with the ability to recommend and implement improvements.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication (written and oral), organizational, analytical and time management skills; ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Salary: $83,185.00 to $97,826.00 per annum (Salary Grade 11)

Final candidates for this position are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment. Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person in our Edmonton downtown office as required by their position.
