Description:

Does the idea of working on mineral resource projects from initial identification through permitting and production interest you?

In this role, you will support the Hard Minerals team's efforts with external partners and internal stakeholders aimed at developing aggregate, industrial mineral and metal mining projects on the more than 11 million acres of Weyerhaeuser's timberlands and mineral ownership.

You will support team members' efforts to identify mining prospects, address potential internal land use conflicts, negotiate exploration agreements and leases, coordinate activities with business partners and internal stakeholders, and monitor and enforce agreement compliance.

Incumbent must demonstrate good analytical, computer, communication (written and oral) and people skills. Will be responsible for carrying out a full workload associated with ongoing and often complex projects but will continue to work with Mineral managers on complex assignments where the incumbent may be expected to take a project management role.

Travel of 30-50% will be required, predominately in the SE US and based in a home office of Sandy Springs, GA. Company vehicle provided.

Moderate ArcGIS skills preferred, as responsibilities will involve working with spatial data to be incorporated into licensed software platforms.

Position reports to Director Minerals.

This is an exciting role for a candidate that is self-motivated, thoughtful, creative, and passionate about geology or sustainable mineral resource development.

Qualifications
  • Requires a BS degree (prefer MS degree) in Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related field, and prefer relevant geological or natural resource management experience.
  • Provides technical support for ArcGIS-based mapping and data management
  • On-site management of drilling contractors and logging results for geologic exploration
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting of lessee production and pricing Collaborates with senior geologist or minerals manager on mineral prospect development
  • Responsible for supervised monitoring of mining operations and lessee compliance
  • Responsible for supervised management of select business development projects
  • Displays strong interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Travel required: 30-50%
What We Offer:

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $83,313 - $121,970 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees can enroll in our company's 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
