Position Summary

The Manager, Talent Acquisition will be responsible for Consultant recruiting across all business lines: Executive Search, Leadership Advisory Services (LAS) and Private Equity. This role will drive the Firm's strategic Consultant hiring plan which is crucial to our continued growth and success serving clients and nurturing a distinctive culture. The Manager, TA will be a compelling presence in the marketplace, have the presence and gravitas to be a respected, credible thought partner to senior firm leadership and candidates in executing Consultant searches and achieving the hiring plan. This role anchors on relationship building with candidates, sources, and internal constituencies and will serve as an ambassador of Spencer Stuart in the talent market. The Manager, TA will deliver a phenomenal candidate experience and process to strengthen and elevate our market position as the employer of choice for exceptional talent.

The skill set for this position includes strong strategic thinking, communication skills and assessment abilities applied to evaluating senior level business experiences and professional capabilities. Successful candidates for the Manager, TA role will be comfortable with high-visibility responsibilities/deliverables, multi-project management with several firm leader stakeholders, and an unrelenting drive to drive exceptional outcomes. The Manager, TA, will be an excellent project manager, senior level/C-Suite search professional with keen judgement/discernment, results orientation and an energizing collaborator.

The location of this position will be flexible and could be based in any of our U.S. offices. Some travel will be required for firm meetings, convening events and relationship building.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead recruiting strategy, candidate development and processes for the Consultant cohort. Elevate our recruiting strategy and execution to attract top talent to meet our business needs as a thought partner to the Head of Talent Acquisition-Americas, Regional Practice Leaders and Head of North America Region, Head of Latin America Region, and other key stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Lead internal stakeholder communication and management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with high potential Consultant prospects and candidates from competitors, consulting firms and industry.
  • Partner with the Manager, DEI Recruiting-N.A., to support the Firm's talent objectives including close collaboration with our external diversity partner organizations focused on historically underrepresented groups.
  • Develop Consultant position specifications and drive candidate generation through internal and external sourcing and networking, research, our internal proprietary database, and strategic talent convening events.
  • Develop, cultivate, assess and reference candidates; work with businesses (Search, LAS, PE) to manage the interview, decision and close process for consultant candidates and hires.
  • Provide search updates (via Client Portal) and materials as necessary to stakeholder teams, Practice, Regional and Firm leadership.
  • Provide input into the crucial on-boarding plan for new hires based on interview and reference feedback.
  • Maintain updated information about searches and outcomes to capture learning and innovation, as well as reporting to key business leaders.


Ideal Experience

15+ years of business experience

Of which, at least five years of experience in recruiting, executive search or talent acquisition within a top-tier professional services, consulting, or corporate environment.

Delivering results in a high-performance environment

Experience working in a high-performance and fast-paced environment in a role where multiple projects, stakeholders and competing demands are the norm while delivering high quality results.

Strong business acumen

Strong business acumen with familiarity and exposure to a broad range of industries is required. Financial savvy in constructing offers and partnering with Finance in the completion of break-even analysis. Aptitude to partner with General Counsel in understanding candidate post-employment obligations around non-solicitation of clients and colleagues.

Seeks to learn about various practices and relevant backgrounds for consultant talent Keeps current on developments at Spencer Stuart and strategic implications for the Firm's talent needs.

Relationship Building

Excellent internal and external relationship building is core to being effective in this role to build a strong network. Having influence will help enable the person in this role to create a finely tuned process that has broad involvement. Spencer Stuart is a deeply relationship-based firm and strong internal relationships are needed to partner effectively and have credibility. Externally, this person will serve as an ambassador of Spencer Stuart to identify, build relationships with and recruit exceptional talent. Strong relationships in the talent marketplace will enable the candidate to solve searches more quickly and with better results. The successful candidate will do this by:

  • Cultivating and maintaining an external network in a thoughtful, strategic manner.
  • Building a pipeline by getting to know prospects and maintaining relationships, even when there is not an immediate need.
  • Maintaining a strong internal network to identify referrals.

Communication Skills

Drives impact both internally and externally by communicating clearly and effectively with various constituencies. Produces high quality "client ready" written communication including emails, presentations and other written documents are key to effective communication and internal/external credibility.

Project Management

Excellent project management skills are required to drive and execute Consultant searches. Plans, manages and drives efforts to identify and develop a slate of high-quality candidates for each search. role. Using knowledge of the market, a network of contacts, research tools and own experience to help drive recruiting efforts. Balances multiple projects and priorities and works effectively with a range of individuals with differing styles to arrive at solutions for the Firm's talent needs. Role requires attention to detail while maintaining big picture thinking and a sense of urgency.

Judgment and Assessment

Insightfully assesses candidate experience, competencies and other relevant data to make sound recommendations to internal constituents about candidates' fit and interest in the role. Using own knowledge and experience to frame the right questions to elicit information from the prospect/candidate. Integrates evolving best practices in assessment into internal recruiting effort. Demonstrates excellent judgment with sensitive personnel information.

The base compensation range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000 per year. The actual base compensation offered within this range will be dependent on the individual's skills, experiences, and qualifications. This position will be eligible to participate in our annual discretionary bonus program.
